Encylopedic??

[edit]

I don't think detailed information on Unicode coverage is really encyclopedic. 2.7 is about to be released anyway, so information about 2.3 is already out of date. —Keenan Pepper 23:36, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

When new version comes out, and we have chance to check out the characters in each block, then one of us can update that. ~ Tarikash 02:07, 9 June 2006 (UTC).
(In my opinion,) this page is the right most place to include detail info, like this. If only the latest version info is updated/covered, then it will not turn into a version log. This info gives the chance to have a real sense of what is actually included inside a font, how much it covers. It answers, Why this is a Unicode font. ~ Tarikash 02:17, 9 June 2006 (UTC).
I think unicode coverage is useful; but details can be fetched from the project page, as it is linked in the external link section. I have translated this page (and then extended it a bit) to Italian. I think it would be useful to list the fonts included in the package. I can translate that section from Italian, but someone should check my translation afterwards. — Mikelima 08:20, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I have a question: what's the newest release: 2.17 or 2.8? There is an inconsistency on the Wikipedia. On this page, 2.17 is written, but on Unicode_fonts it's 2.8. This is weird.

OpenType ?

[edit]

Looking this one with the font viewer in Windows, it says that the font is OpenType. Should not this be in the article ? --Jerome Potts (talk) 20:19, 4 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Metric compatibility with Verdana...?

[edit]

The box at the head of the article states that DejaVu Sans is metrically compatible with Verdana. A quick test in a word processor - pasting two identical batches of the lorem ipsum text and setting them in the two fonts - shows that they are not identical: a line of Verdana takes up slightly more horizontal space than DejaVu Sans.--79.69.67.23 (talk) 22:44, 4 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
