Carrione vs. Lavensa

[edit]

Concerning 213.188.210.28's edit of the name of the river near which Carrara stands, I'm finding sources which use both names: "Carrione" or "Lavensa". Unless someone can find a definitive source specifying which is more correct, we should leave it at "Carrione", which Infrogmation has reverted it to. -- Rmrfstar 29 June 2005 21:16 (UTC)

59.167.27.193Carrione is the river!!!59.167.27.193 And Avenza is the actual name (in origin it was Lavensa, then Lavenza) of the village in wich the river passes trough. Definitely attendible source, I live there...and proud of it!

Famous Carraresi?

[edit]

I know that Gigi Buffon is from there, are there any other people from the city? ABart26 23:57, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes... me !!!

The link leads to Luni River (India), not the Italian portual place

Photo caption

it says in the caption to the aerial photo that the town of Carrara is at the top of the image near the quarries, but isn't the main section of the city by the sea? with the part at the top being an outlying district. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JPLeonard (talkcontribs) 05:52, 28 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No, the town proper - that is, the historic town center, with the cathedral etc. is indeed way inland, closer to the quarries. The "urban sprawl" you see by the seaside is Marina di Carrara - that is, the port, industrial area, apartment blocks, hypermarkets etc. I spent a bit of time on the ground there, and remember the general lay of the land. I am sure it can be verified with Google Maps as well. -- Vmenkov (talk) 15:41, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

History

[edit]

Under "History", much is not clear. Otto and Luni could be clarified.

Someone seems to have been translating from the Italian article.
