Rename?

[edit]

Shouldn't this article's name be singular? Most other objects that come in pairs are still listed in the singular: eye, foot, leg, hand, shoe, boot, &c. President Lethe 15:15, 19 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have no strong feelings, one way or the other. But don't try wearing just one ballet boot! - Taxwoman 14:34, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ballet slipper

[edit]

I wanted to make the word slipper in this article a link to an article on ballet slippers; but I see only articles on Ballet and on Slippers in general (which latter article makes little or no mention of the specific ballet form). Does anyone want to write a new article? I don't have the knowledge to do it. President Lethe 15:15, 19 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia

It's me. I wear and walk in ballet heels daily. I have also jumped rope, driven a car and gone for a run in them.

Many people these days are capable of taking a short wander in their ballet heels.

I have also written a gude to help people condition their bodies for safer use of this type of footwear.

I think I missed the "trivia" addition. Anything relevant?

Training?

[edit]

I was wondering if these boots would be useful to ballerinas who are getting accustomed to standing en pointe? Have they ever been used for that? --76.181.33.65 (talk) 23:41, 1 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

Due to the construction of the modern ballet boot, the arch of the foot is than what would be required for a full pointe work. I have not known of any dancer that has used ballet boots to increase their foot flexibility, because a ballet dancer's foot/ankle - already trained for pre-pointe work, should already have a greater arch range than a ballet boot provides.

Short and unreferenced. Low-importance because it's really specialized footwear, after all. Daniel Case 02:41, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
