Bah humbug?

[edit]

Is there any connection to the popular phrase "Bah, Humbug"?

Those crazy Germans, this city name is a joke. I recomend renaming it, just for the sake of its inhabitants. IEEE 14:49, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This name isnt a joke. There are towns who have really funny names, like Fucking, Austria, but "Bad Homburg" isnt funny . And: For people, who are from Bad Homburg, like I am, it isnt funny at all when people make fun of their home. --Zualio 17:02, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

No, no relationship. The German word for "humbug" is--wait for it--"Humbug". As the article states, "Bad" implies a thermal bath, and "burg" means "castle". "Homburg" is derived from the name of Hohenberg castle (caution, "Berg" means mountain :-) Groogle (talk) 02:37, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Bad Homburg v.d. Höhe

[edit]

I've removed the claim that the official name includes abbreviations; all evidence on the German page shows that this is incorrect, and though it's not 100% proven, there's no proof whatsoever that the abbreviation is part of the official name. Groogle (talk) 02:41, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dubious partner towns

[edit]

An IP user added about nine partner towns to the list here (and other city pages). I see no sources to validate them and I'm wondering if these changes need to be reverted. Does anyone have any indication that these changes are valid? Coastside (talk) 16:00, 25 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
