🌟 We are pleased to announce a partnership with global technology company AVL List GmbH to develop solid oxide #electrolyser cell (#SOEC) stack modules for cutting-edge MW scale #hydrogen production plants! 🌟 👉 This project brings together the R&D efforts of both partners in their respective IPCEI Hy2Tech programs in Estonia/Finland and Austria. 🔎The partners will focus on one of the biggest challenges of the technology – to scale from small cell footprints to multi-megawatt modules. The solution will incorporate multiple Elcogen single SOEC #stacks in a stack module which will enable industrial scaling of the technology. 🤝 The collaboration combines Elcogen’s leading-edge technology in SOEC/solid oxide fuel cells and stacks with AVL’s industry leading expertise in #SOFC & SOEC system and stack module development. 🟢 Martin Skov Skjøth-Rasmussen, CTO, Elcogen, said: “Through this collaboration and combination of complementary specialised expertise under the IPCEI Hy2Tech program, we hope to accelerate the development of modular solutions for the industrial scale deployment of solid oxide technology.” 🟢 Juergen Rechberger, Vice President, AVL, added: “We are happy to join forces under the umbrella of IPCEI Hy2Tech with Elcogen. 🎉🥂 Glad to share! The cornerstone has been laid! 🥂🎉 🌟 On June 18th, the cornerstone for Elcogen’s new factory was laid in the Loovälja Industrial Park near Tallinn. The 14,000 square meter factory will significantly increase our current production capacity of solid oxide cells and stacks to meet the growing global demand for emission-free energy and green hydrogen-producing fuel cells. 🌟 📈 The factory is being constructed in collaboration with Maru Ehitus AS. Elcogen's production capacity will increase from 10 megawatts to 360 megawatts following completion of the new facility. 👉 The cornerstone for the building was Elcogen’s elcoStack®, a fuel stack consisting of over a hundred fuel cells which produces either emission-free #electricity or #hydrogen through an #electrochemical reaction. 🟢 Enn Õunpuu, founder and CEO of Elcogen, stated at the cornerstone ceremony that this is a crucial milestone on the path to innovative energy solutions: “The new factory will be equipped with the latest available technology, reducing its environmental impact and minimising air pollution. Production will be significantly more automated, faster, and of higher quality than before. The new factory is a priority development for us, as our current production capacity is at its maximum, and with our strategic investors Baker Hughes and HD Hyundai, we have global customers who are in need of our technology.” 🟢 Margo Dengo, Chairman of the Board of Maru Ehitus, added: “All big things start small. I am pleased to see the progress made to date - from a brief phone call with Enn back in November 2022, our journey has led us to the cornerstone laying today. 🌟 We are pleased to announce a collaboration agreement under the Important Projects of Common European Interest scheme (“IPCEI”) with the Dutch Organization for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) to develop advanced SOE technology for future market demands. 🌟 💪 Solid oxide electrolysis stands out from other technologies due to its ability to operate at significantly high temperatures while enabling around 20-30% higher efficiency when compared to low-temperature electrolysers. Solid oxide core components also have the ability to produce hydrogen from renewable electricity as well as generate renewable energy (power and heat in fuel cell mode) from hydrogen and other fuels within an integrated setup. 🟢 Enn Õunpuu, CEO of Elcogen: "Our collaboration with TNO and with ECN previously has been central to Elcogen’s development. Our long-standing relationship has jointly established several key improvements in solid oxide technology, and I expect that this new collaboration agreement will expand solid oxide stack technology into a new era." 🟢 Richard Braal, Division Director TNO EMT Industry: "TNO has a strong dedication to tackle global warming.
