External Monitors Exhibit Different Color Caste

Greetings,

I have a new 2023 Mac Studio M2 Max running Sonoma 14.5 that I have attached two new BenQ SW270U 4K monitors using USB-C. I have connected the cables to the two outer ports in the bank of four on the rear of the computer. Both monitors have identical settings and running same profiles. One monitor has a slight pink/purple color caste. This was also occurring on a different pair of BenQ monitors connect to the same computer using same ports but different cables. I have run ColorSync Utility but the issue remains. Before I start to run specific color calibrations on the monitors is there any solution to this issue?

My work is very color sensitive so I'm hoping to resolve this issue.

I know I'm asking about basics here, but are the setups for both monitors identical ... both in monitor as well as in the Mac Studio? Are the cables identical?

Have you tried the other 2 TB/USB-C ports?

Studio M2 Max display specs:

Two external displays

Supports two displays in any one of these configurations:

- Two displays up to 6K at 60Hz (or 4K at 144Hz) over Thunderbolt
- One display up to 6K at 60Hz (or 4K at 144Hz) over Thunderbolt, and one display up to 8K at 60Hz (or 4K at 240Hz) over HDMI

For testing purposes, before going further with ColorSync or other calibrations,

Swap the display connections to the ports just to verify if the problem is the Mac or one of the displays and/or cables.

Display A-USB 1; Display B-USB 2 vs.
Display A-USB 2; Display B-USB 1

Swap the physical positions of the two monitors, as the problem could be ambient illumination differences in the room and possibly viewing angles.

Thank you MartinR,

This is issue was present with a previous set of monitors using different cables. Since these were older BenQ monitors that were not compatible with the M2 chip, I assumed that was the issue. The only thing that hasn't been changed is the Mac Studio ports I'm connecting through. I will swap those to confirm. In short, I have:

1) Changed monitors

2) Changed cables

3) Changed position of monitors

4) Recently rerun calibrations on the monitors (Using Palette Master Ultimate and i1 Display Pro)

I will try swapping ports, but I don't believe that this will change things. Monitor 1 is definitely different than Monitor 2 which has a pinkish hue.
