Youtube HDR/Dolby Vision not working

I’m late on this reply but there’s no “secret.” It’s all Google. YouTube does not support Dolby Vision. Straight up. End of story. That’s why you’re not getting it. No one does.

I have the same issue and lodged a feedback in Youtube TV https://www.youtube.com/tv/feedback and I suggest people with same issue lodge there as well.

From Apple's perspective, they will likely say this is an issue with third party app, the developer need to fix it. Netflix and Prime video HDR works fine.

So this one has been driving me crazy. I had to go in an turn off "match dynamic range". I kept "match frame rate" as on, and it works perfectly now. I have to give the credit to this video in the link. I tried everything - except that apparently. Giving credit where credit is due.

The video is dumb promotion, but there is a timestamp at the very end - Tutorial - that covers it the change.

There is nothing wrong with your setup. The reason is simple: Google does not support Dolby Vision on YouTube at all. Even for the stuff that says it, because Google does not support it means the video will never output in Dolby vision. It’s not a conspiracy it is what it is.

Both of these comments are unhelpful. It is obvious that YT doesn’t support Dolby Vision, that is not the issue. The issue is how to address the adverse effects on an Apple TV setup for Dolby vision for apps that do support it. The solution above works and allows you to use Dolby Vision where applicable and remain in native display for others that don’t support it without having to change the setting each time you change apps.

I agree totally and the reason being is that the AUDIO starts playing and then there's a 3 second delay until it synchs-up with the video. A pain in the ***. I thought of switching DolbyVision out to another 4K format on my Apple TV 4K and after reading other people's frustration trying the alternate formats of 4K, there is no solution. Too bad GOOGLE and APPLE can't resolve this as more and more consumers are only buying 4K TV's now!
