Dr. Yongjie Yon leads the Ageing and Health program for WHO Europe as a Technical Officer in the Policy and Governance for Health Through the Life-Course unit at the WHO Regional Office for Europe in Copenhagen, Denmark. Holding a Ph.D. in Gerontology from the University of Southern California, United States, Dr. Yon was a Doctoral Fellow with the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. His extensive research and policy portfolio specifically focus on health and public health policies, with a strong emphasis on health and active longevity. He has published in leading academic journals, covering diverse topics such as ageism, abuse of older persons, age-friendly environments, child maltreatment, intergenerational relations, oral health, housing, road traffic injuries, and health disparities. Before joining WHO, Dr. Yon served as a Policy Analyst on ageing policies for the Federal Government of Canada.
