Rise of PHEV Technology in North America In recent years, hybrid vehicles have surged in popularity across North America, transforming the automotive landscape. These innovative vehicles, particularly Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs), are quickly becoming the go-to choice for eco-conscious buyers. But what’s driving this shift, and why are PHEVs gaining such traction? Hybrid vehicles are the perfect middle ground between the familiar combustion engines and the emerging all-electric models. They cleverly combine the best of both worlds, allowing zero tailpipe emission driving while maintaining the extended range we’ve come to expect from traditional engines. This balance makes PHEVs an attractive option for those looking to reduce their carbon footprint without sacrificing convenience. One of the standout features in many of today’s best-selling PHEVs is ZF’s state-of-the-art 8- speed automatic transmission. Celebrating 15 years of success, the latest iteration of this transmission is the most efficient, versatile, and modular version yet. ZF engineers have optimized the installation space to integrate the electric-drive inverter and accommodate more powerful electric motors, resulting in a game-changing 8-speed transmission. Learn more at: https://bit.ly/3RYxWOk. This cutting-edge technology enables PHEVs to achieve pure-electric driving with impressive power—up to 160 kW and 450 Nm of torque. This means drivers can experience the thrill of electric driving without worrying about driving range. And the best part? These advanced transmissions are available today in several popular makes and models, with even more on the horizon. By 2025, ZF plans to produce these innovative transmissions right here in the US, contributing to a greener planet and supporting the local economy. Opting for a PHEV allows you to enjoy the benefits of increased fuel economy and reduced emissions, all without the need for an extensive charging infrastructure. No more stressing about where your next charge is coming from or experiencing range anxiety. The rise of PHEV technology in North America is more than just a trend; it's a movement towards a sustainable future. With ZF Group leading the charge in innovation, hybrid vehicles are becoming more efficient, powerful, and accessible than ever. PHEVs represent a crucial transitional technology on the road to full electrification. By bridging the gap between traditional combustion engines and fully electric models, PHEVs provide a flexible, immediate way to contribute to sustainability, making them the ideal choice for today’s eco-conscious consumers. #PHEV #Automotive #ElectricMobility

Leading market, leading technology. China is currently leading the charge in the electric vehicle market, both in terms of volume and variety of models available. With so much choice and so much demand, both drivers and car manufacturers require technology support that adapts to their needs. For this, ZF has designed its electric motor to be highly modular. ZF offers highly efficient and cost-competitive electric motors that cater to various drivetrains, whether focused on efficiency, performance, or economy. These motors are suitable for a wide range of installation spaces, from compact cars to high-end crossovers, serving both OEMs and their customers effectively. #ElectricMobility #ElectricDrivetrain #ElectricVehicles #ChineseOEM

Works great alone; works even better together: Most electric cars use a single drive unit, placed on either the front or the rear axle. And while “just” a main drive is sufficient for many vehicles, certain scenarios – like high-performance models, off-road and AWD cars – require additional features such as driving dynamics, better traction or better efficiency. OEM therefore have a few things to consider during development. One thing they can rely on, however, is the ZF eDrive System. Thanks to its modular platform approach, it can be designed either as a main drive, as a secondary drive, or in tandem – entirely according to the specifications and requirements of our customers. A great first and second choice, then. #ElectricMobility #ElectricDrivetrain #ElectricVehicles

World premiere! At the EUROBIKE Show 2024 bicycle trade fair, the ZF Group will be presenting its new 48-volt drive system for e-bikes for the first time. The ‘ZF Bike Eco System’ includes all drive components such as e-motor, batteries, control units, app and a connection to the cloud. The core component is the ZF ‘CentriX’ drive unit with an ultra-compact meter mid-motor. “With our CentriX e-bike drive unit, which weighs just 2.5 kilograms and is uniquely compact, we are setting a benchmark in the power class up to 90 Newton meters of torque,” explained Daniel Härter, Head of the Micro Mobility business unit at ZF. “This allows bicycle manufacturers to offer their customers high-performance e-bikes that are similar in weight and appearance to e-bikes with a lightweight support motor.” Read the press release for more information: https://spr.ly/6046ga12M Visit ZF at the Eurobike (July 3 to 7, Frankfurt/Main, Germany) at booth A09 in hall 12.1 as well as in the outdoor area F12, I12. #ebike #freedomontwowheels #zfebike #futurestarter

The mobility transformation involves a twofold ambition: on the one hand, to reduce emissions as much as possible by using electric drives that can be powered by renewable energy sources. On the other hand, to also focus on sustainability in production. I²SM from ZF is a concept that combines both in an outstanding way: a powerful electric motor that works completely without magnets and the necessary rare earths. All the better that these values have now been recognized by the jury of the "Best in Class" award. I²SM has been nominated for the award, which is organized by the trade magazine electricar Magazin, in the category "Pioneer of the mobility transition". The award ceremony is not until the end of October, but we are already keeping our fingers crossed. #emobility #electricar #electricvehicle #greentech

Electric drives are not just about currents, magnets, bits and bytes. You always need some good old-fashioned mechanics. An e-reduction drive, for instance, forms a vital part of the driveline, pushing the raw power of the electric motor down to the pavement. And thanks to ZF’s decades of experience, this happens with low drag losses and high torque transmission at the lowest possible weight. A special highlight is its availability in coaxial configuration with an integrated differential – marrying high efficiency with best-in-class compactness. Proving that even the mobility of the future still benefits from traditional mechanical engineering. #ElectricMobility #MechanicalEngineering #Driveline

According to Deevakar, this is the future: “Our future products are all practically inside my computer. The laws of physics that allow us to drive cars and motorcycles haven’t changed. But digitalization helps us to better understand which adjustments are needed so that the mechanical processes of an engine or gearbox are as efficient as possible.. We can reduce the development time for a transmission or an electric drive unit from five years to three years – even though the components have become much more complex.” Read more: https://spr.ly/6044e6y4o #FutureStarter #NextGenMobility
