🌍 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘁 𝘇𝗲𝗿𝗼? Currently, both emission reductions and removals (#CDR) are falling short. Bridging this #netzerogap will require both private and public commitments. Governments need to help crowdinh private funding and unlock public #funding. There are several options worth considering: 1) Public procurement 🏛️ 2) Subsidies and Fiscal incentives 💰 3) Public guarantees ✅ Interested in learning more about these tools? Our CCO Venna Lepel Lepel discusses these potential levers to finance a #netzeroinfrastructure in her latest article for illuminem Voices: https://lnkd.in/deZhD2j7 #ClimateAction #GreenFinance #COP29

Worldwide the need for #renewable #heat is growing - here's why our state-of-the-art pyrolysis technology is a promising solution. 🪨🔥 In a pyrolysis process not only #biochar is produced, it also generates regenerative, climate-neutral surplus energy. We offer this #greenheat to companies or municipal utilities in the form of Heat as a Service partnerships. This means that we take care of designing the right heating solution, building the pyrolysis plant, and continuously operating and feeding the energy into the existing heating network. We can provide the heat as hot water, warm water, or process steam. Probably the biggest barrier companies face in making the switch to #carbonneutral energy is the large capital investment that must be made. Our Heat as a Service solution allows businesses to access renewable heat without having to make the initial investment. This aspect is also highlighted by the WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development: "Decarbonizing heat through a Heat as a Service partnership is a great way to reduce dependence on gas". #sustainabilitysummit #sustainability #nachhaltigkeit #novocarbo

"𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱, 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝗱." (Noah Deich) ⛵ Is there a better place to discuss the roles of government and private business in scaling up Carbon Dioxide Removal (#CDR) than DVNE’s Sommerfest? In just one year, the German Deutscher Verband für negative Emissionen e.V. (DVNE) has established itself as a leading voice in the emerging CDR industry in Germany. I am thrilled to be part of this journey. It was a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces and meet new ones while discussing the latest developments in the ecosystem. Always a pleasure! 💵 One highlight was Noah Deich sharing his insights on CDR policy in the US, comparing it to Germany’s support for renewables. His perspective resonated with me—we must view carbon removal as a #publicgood that requires public support. 💡 If you're interested in how governments can support a #netzeroinfrastructure for CDR, check out our latest blog post. Additionally, don't miss the new Boston Consulting Group (BCG) study on the economic potential of the industry (link in comments). Kudos to the DVNE team (Stefan Schlosser, Nicole Herold, Philipp Rupp, Sebastian Hanss-Mirodone) for hosting such a fantastic event and bringing together such an incredible group! 𝗖𝗗𝗥 – 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻-𝗗𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆? 💥 Hot off the press: A new report by Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and Deutscher Verband für negative Emissionen e.V. (DVNE) has unveiled the immense economic potential of Carbon Dioxide Removal (#CDR). We as Novocarbo are pleased to have had the opportunity to contribute to this project as part of the DVNE sounding board. 📈 According to the report, the global economic potential of the CDR industry could reach up to €470-940 billion annually by 2050. In Germany alone, the CDR industry could grow to €70 billion per year by 2050, creating up to 190,000 jobs—surpassing the current employment levels in the wind energy sector. 💎 The report also analyzes different CDR deployment scenarios for 2050, and it highlights that biochar carbon removal (#BCR) ranks as either the number one or number two novel CDR pathway in terms of volume. Regarding economic potential, BCR could reach a global economic impact of €35-70 billion. 🏗 The report emphasizes several reasons for BCR’s potential to scale, including its high technological readiness, its flexibility across various locations, and its ability to produce surplus energy. These factors make BCR particularly promising for large-scale implementation, also in Germany. To learn more, check out the full report or read DVNE’s highlights (links in the comments ⬇ ). 💡𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 #𝗕𝗖𝗥 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲-𝗻𝗲𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹? Novocarbo processes plant residues into biochar through pyrolysis. This produces regenerative, #climate-neutral surplus energy, which we make available to companies and municipal utilities as heat in the form of hot water, warm water or process steam. 🔥 The #GreenEnergy is a by-product of our biochar production, which is why all emissions generated in the process are allocated to the biochar's carbon footprint. 🔥 Possible emissions from the biomass itself are climate-neutral, as these are #renewable raw materials. 🔥 As we actively remove more carbon from the atmosphere than we emit, the entire process of our biochar production and therefore also our heat is 100% climate-neutral. ✉️ Open Letter: Expand EIB guarantees to unlock EU industrial competitiveness! ✉️ The European Investment Bank (EIB) already plays an essential role filling the investment gap that will modernise the EU’s industrial base and unlock the economic and energy resilience advantages from a net zero economy. Yet, the European Commission sees a €620 billion annual investment need to meet its energy and climate targets - with at least €92 billion required by 2030 to build the manufacturing capacity for only six strategic clean technologies. Together with 39 European cleantech innovators, investors, industry associations, researchers and NGOs, we call on the EIB to support the expansion of its public guarantee that can scale-up Europe's cleantech manufacturing significantly and reinforce the global competitiveness of EU green industry. We do so ahead of the European Investment Bank (EIB)’s Board of Governors meeting this Friday to approve its new 2024-2027 strategic road map. Our message: ⚡ Guarantees can secure Europe’s energy transition 🏛️ The EIB as the EU’s Climate Bank can support the growth of a Green capital market union to deliver Europe’s clean energy future ⚠️ European cleantech manufacturers are turning down orders for lack of bank guarantees ❗ The issue is access, not cost, and European manufacturers are at risk. 💡 The EIB’s counter-guarantee facility is a strong catalyst for a thriving green economy By shifting risk from commercial banks to the EIB’s balance sheet and the European budget, via InvestEU, European banks can offer new guarantee lines for cleantech projects and promote bank lending to emerging cleantech manufacturing. This is a strategic and crucial intervention to address a capital market failure and ensure Europe’s energy system and industry transformation. The EIB would be delivering its climate bank mandate by stepping for cleantech and innovative renewables where commercial banks reach their lending limits, as these limits are not configured to match the speed and ambition of Europe’s energy transition. https://lnkd.in/etvsU2u5 Climate Strategy & Partners Tech for Net Zero I4CE - Institut de l'économie pour le climat / Institute for Climate Economics 1.5° Ventures 2150 Airborne Wind Europe Aster Capital Atlantic Labs CAPHENIA Carbon-Free Europe DeepDrive EASE - The European Association for Storage of Energy Electrochaea Energy Dome EUREC - The Association of European Renewable Energy Research Centres Extantia Future Cleantech Architects GET Fund HV Capital ICODOS IKEM – Institute for Climate Protection, Energy and Mobility Jacques Delors Institute Kiko Ventures KRAFTBLOCK Matterwave Ventures Novocarbo Ocean Energy Europe Planet A Ventures Renewable Hydrogen Coalition Simplifhy Sunfire Trill Impact UnternehmerTUM Vireo Ventures World Fund
