The 2024 Canada Day celebrations continued with the annual gathering of the German-Canadian Friendship Association in Munich. The ceremony, which focused on culture, took place in the Munich “Künstlerhaus”. This year’s DKG honorary awards went to Canadian dancer Eric Gauthier, founder of the Gauthier Dance Company at the Theaterhaus Stuttgart, and to the heirs of CreARTion gallery, which has promoted Inuit art in Germany for decades.   The « Work and Travel Program » also celebrates its 60th anniversary this year – an excellent way for young Germans to experience Canada, promoting people-to-people ties and fostering cultural understanding between our countries.   We have many reasons to celebrate close and ever-growing relations between our two countries… and to dance with Mr. Gauthier’s guidance!   Thank you, DKG, for your ongoing commitment to the 🇨🇦 - 🇩🇪 friendship! *** Les célébrations de la fête du Canada 2024 se sont poursuivies avec le rassemblement annuel de l'Association d'amitié germano-canadienne à Munich. La cérémonie, axée sur la culture, a eu lieu au « Künstlerhaus » de Munich. Les prix d’honneur du DKG de cette année ont été décernés au danseur canadien Eric Gauthier, fondateur de la Gauthier Dance Company au Theaterhaus Stuttgart, et aux héritiers de la galerie CreARTion, qui fait la promotion de l’art inuit en Allemagne depuis des décennies.   Par ailleurs, le Programme Travailler et Voyager au Canada célèbre son 60e anniversaire cette année – une excellente façon pour les jeunes Allemands de découvrir le Canada, de promouvoir les liens entre les peuples et de favoriser la compréhension culturelle entre nos pays.   Nous avons de nombreuses raisons de célébrer les relations étroites et toujours croissantes entre nos deux pays… et de danser sous les directives de M. Die diesjährigen DKG-Ehrenpreise gingen an den kanadischen Tänzer Eric Gauthier, Gründer der Gauthier Dance Company am Theaterhaus Stuttgart, und an die Erben der Galerie CreARTion, die seit Jahrzehnten Inuit-Kunst in Deutschland fördert.   Das „Work and Travel Program“ feiert in diesem Jahr sein 60-jähriges Jubiläum – eine hervorragende Möglichkeit für junge Deutsche, Kanada kennenzulernen, persönliche Beziehungen und das kulturelle Verständnis zwischen unseren Ländern zu fördern.   Wir haben viele Gründe, die engen und stetig wachsenden Beziehungen zwischen unseren beiden Ländern zu feiern … und unter der Anleitung von Herrn Gauthier zu tanzen!   Vielen Dank, DKG, für das anhaltende Engagement für die 🇨🇦 - 🇩🇪 Freundschaft!

It was a busy week for Canada at the 41st FILMFEST MÜNCHEN, Germany’s largest summer festival! With a total of ten feature films and two short films Canadian filmmaking was the focus of attention. The documentary The SPOILS by Jamie Kastner about the Max Stern Restitution project celebrated its world premiere and was the subject of a well attended panel discussion at Amerikahaus München. At the #CineCoPro Conference 2024, the film B2B event at the festival, Canada was also well represented with a delegation of 15 film professionals from Canada. The conference was supported by Telefilm Canada, Embassy of Canada to Germany | Ambassade du Canada en Allemagne, FilmFernsehFonds Bayern & Creative Europe Desk Munich. The focus of the visit was on disruptive research and technologies around e-aircrafts, next generation aircraft materials, space solar array production, as well as satellite navigation and communication. The team also used the opportunity to discus new R&D collaborations with Canadian companies and institutions. With over 4,000 employees in Canada, several sites across the country and sourcing from more than 700 domestic suppliers, Airbus has already been calling Canada one of its home markets for years! The Canadian company Eavor Technologies Inc. conquers new territories with their proprietary EavorLoop technology. By investing in a new geothermal project in Geretsried, Bavaria, Eavor will supply the region with district heating, a technology that has potential across #Germany and which will significantly reduce carbon emissions.
