Everyone is reeling from the heat wave. It’s so hot you couldn’t just fry an egg on the sidewalk, you could burn it. Luckily, these pools are open and ready to let you in for a splish splash of cool water — and they all have delightful cocktail menus to boot.

A note that none of these pools are public and there will be a minimal fee to access them. You don’t have to book a hotel room to access the hotel pools, however. Don’t forget the sunscreen.

The Westin Galleria Dallas

The FOE is a no-frills, all fun, family-friendly, and utterly affordable pool to spend your hot summer days at $10 for adults on weekdays and $15 on weekends and holidays, and $5 for kids 12 and under during the week or $10 weekends and holidays. The cocktail and beer bar keeps it simple. A refreshing plastic glass of Deep Eddy grapefruit with soda and a squeeze of lime will hit the spot.

This massive complex at the Hilton Anatole has kid-friendly areas, an adult-only pool, and a swim-up bar. Book a day pass starting at $95 for two adults (prices get higher Friday through Sunday), with VIP seated packages going up from there. Sit at the bar and grill for a bite, or order it poolside. And hit the swim-up bar for a watermelon hurricane to quench that scorching thirst.

This century-old hotel is offering day passes starting at $35 for adults and children, with food and drink from the hotel is available. This spot is probably more geared towards adults, although we’ve seen hotel guests with kids floating by.

This rooftop pool is quite the scene — do not bring the kids. It’s for those who are down for decadent adult fun. Enjoy cocktails at the Pool Club bar, and order bites including a club sammie, burger, and tacos. Hotel guests get in for free, and day passes are on sale for $25.

JW Marriott Dallas Arts District

This sky-high pool in the Arts District has cool views of the skyscrapers that dot the Arts and Uptown areas. It also has walk-through and delivery access to Vincent’s Sky Bar, where drinks like the white tea daiquiri, bergamot fizz, or verde margarita can be ordered, or get the bartender’s choice if you can’t make up your mind. There are also class bites, including U8 prawn coconut shrimp, Jamaican jerk lollipops, and a smoked wagyu brisket quesadilla. Day passes for adults are $50 during the week and $75 on weekends. Cabana and deluxe passes are available for between $250 and $500.

Waterproof

One of the biggest party scenes in the city is happening at the only rooftop pool downtown: Waterproof at the Statler Hotel. The crowd is young, and while cabanas and poolside tables are available to reserve with a drink and food minimum of $350 for four to 10 people. Not suggested for kiddos.

The pool at the Joule hotel in Downtown is one of the city’s coolest. It has a plexiglass front that lets swimmers look down into the street and out into the skyscrapers all around. The Relativity Pool Bar serves up all the drinks you’d expect — margs, spritzes, the usual. Day passes start at $30 for adults — this is not a kid-friendly spot.

But the smells of barbecue from Off the Bone and Baby Back Shak waft around the block, so be prepared to feed your craving. It’s only $20 to enter for adults ($5 for kids), and if you get there early, snagging a poolside chair or cabana is pretty affordable too.
