It has been 3 years since we supplied a unique E-Sorp hybrid technology of reverse osmosis and MCDI (Membrane Capacitive Deionisation) to a holiday resort in Zanzibar.🌴 We believe this configuration has never been done before; a compact unit within one frame of RO and E-Sorp combines the advantages of both technologies at the smallest possible footprint. It has been running flawlessly for almost 3 years. ℹ️ We were dealing only with minor issues at the beginning that were mostly tight to complicated transport. No membrane change so far for both technologies, no CIP needed so far. E-Sorp delivers multiple product qualities for the entire resort and its departments such as potable water for gastronomy, villas and rooms, saline pools, cooling water etc. 🔜 Case study with more details will follow soon. This 2 module standard E-sorp unit based on MCDI technology is currently being tested for our U.S. based client. 🇺🇲 We conduct a series of thorough monthly tests before we ship the unit to the west coast of the USA. ℹ️ Our test is a model of wastewater composition for a possible MLD desalination endpoint and re-use. Instead of running the system with UF + RO we test this to operate with a conventional filtration system & biofilter and directly goes to E-sorp technology @ recovery exceeding 85% and returning the waste water back to the process at intended quality. Each of our E-Sorp units is thoroughly tested before it leaves us to the wide world. This standardized machine for desalination of various liquids based on MCDI technology will serve our client in Navi Mumbai, India. 🇮🇳 We do maximum for quality assurance; every aspect of the technology is wet-tested, put under scrutiny, recorded and if perfect then released. Unit is pre-set based on design data. At client’s it is plug-and-play; and we really mean it! Water in, water out, plug, push the button on the screen and it is in operation in a matter of 2 minutes. This small E-Sorp unit produces up to 1000 l/h of desalinated water without any pre-treatment. MCDI desalination technology 💦 Membrane Capacitive Deionisation outperforms traditional desalination technologies in many ways. Let’s point out recovery today. ℹ️ Certain applications can run on the longterm with up to 98% overall recovery. There are applications most likely in the drinking water industry or industrial processes that do not require highly purified water. Instead, clients are asking for specific water quality or even specific ion composition of the water. Our MCDI machines are equipped with precise water quality desalination control that sets and fluctuates the voltage so precisely that water is being desalinated constantly to the quality that is needed; not better and not worse and despite significant fluctuations in the feed. The system only regenerates when it no longer achieves the pre-set quality. So traditional desalination systems e.g. softener and RO provide typical recovery between 70% - 75% maximum (indeed, softener itself typically operates 90% recovery). Separionics dispatched a couple of weeks ago one of the first 2nd generation units to our important client in Israel. 🇮🇱 The one module unit capable of desalinating water and other liquids allowing the capacity up to 800 l/h (3.5gal/min.) is in best hands to perform various testings. Among others It is being tested together with an ion exchange system to treat complicated wastewater streams from a food processing factory to reuse wastewater from various processes. 💦 Piloting will demonstrate a viable proof of concept as well as the proof of value so the full scale system is about to come.
