Toronto Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in Toronto was 7.8% as of June 2024, down 0.1% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 7.3% below the peak from July 2020 but remains above the long-run average.

There were 2,800 fewer full-time jobs in June 2024 compared to a month earlier. A gain of 15,200 part-time positions led to an increase of 12,400 total jobs in June.

Full-time employment was still down 25,400 jobs from the peak in July 2023 but stood 31,200 jobs above the trough in January 2024.
