Mission Statement

Our mission is to develop a wide range of fun and delicious snacks while at the same time making a difference in the lives of people trying to make a comeback — especially those who have made a mistake in the past. We plan to do this in the following four ways:

  1. Raise awareness through our platform as a brand and in media appearances,
  2. Challenge business leaders directly through our growing number of speaking engagements to hire more people with criminal backgrounds,
  3. Where possible, hire people with criminal backgrounds or potentially help them find work through our partners,
  4. As we grow the business, provide a portion of our profits to organizations focused on reintegration programs, prison reform, and recidivism reduction.

Impact of Reintegration Programs

Reintegration programs help those released from prison with finding housing, obtaining employment, restarting their family and social life, accessing training and education, and counselling and mental health services — challenges that can overwhelm someone trying to get back on their feet. The good news is they work: reintegration programs lead to a 43% lower rate of re-conviction.

Partner Organizations

John Howard Society

The John Howard Society works with people who have come into conflict with the law, reviews, evaluates and advocates for changes in the criminal justice process, engages in public education on matters relating to criminal law and its application, and promotes crime prevention through community and social development activities.

HOPE Program (YSM)

The Helping Young Offenders Excel (HOPE) program supports rehabilitation and reintegration of youth on parole, bail or bail programs, with a focus on community and employment training.

Elizabeth Fry Society

The Elizabeth Fry Society Southern Ontario Region provides diverse services and supports primarily to women who are criminalized and those at risk of being criminalized. We empower women and advocate social change to reduce the impact of that criminalization.

Renascent Foundation

Renascent is one of Ontario’s largest and longest-standing addiction treatment providers. Over the past 50 years they have helped more than 50,000 people with their programs and services for individuals, families, and organizations for recovery, education, and prevention relating to substance addictions.
