Today, the Swiss National Bank announced the continuation of the Helvetia Pilot on SDX for the next two years. This initiative focuses on settling tokenized securities in Swiss franc wholesale central bank digital currency (wCBDC). Following the success of Project Helvetia III, which demonstrated efficient and safe settlement of tokenized assets in wCBDC, the pilot will expand to include more financial institutions and a broader range of market transactions.   SDX’s robust infrastructure ensures wholesale transactions are settled in the safest form of money — central bank money. The successful issuance of six digital bonds, totaling over CHF 750 million and settled in wCBDC, demonstrates market confidence in our digital asset platform. The continued Helvetia Pilot will further advance digital financial markets, enabling more participants to adopt on-chain wCBDC settlement. On the 2nd of July, David Newns, Head of SDX, participated in a Fireside Chat on "The Future of Finance: Bridging Traditional and Digital Ecosystems,” alongside Kok Kee Chong, CEO of AsiaNext, and Sergey Nazarov, Co-Founder of Chainlink Labs, who moderated the discussion. During their conversation, the speakers highlighted the critical role of interoperability between blockchain infrastructure and traditional financial infrastructure. This includes connections between financial market infrastructures, such as the SDX SIS bridge, and integrations with core banking systems. David emphasized that in regulated markets digital assets first need to reach the same level of functionality and recognition as traditional assets, which is now the case in Switzerland, to then be able to deploy blockchain-specific benefits such as fractionalization or collateral mobilization. He referenced the eligibility of the Lugano bond, the first bond to be repo eligible, as a pioneering example. Looking ahead, David discussed the importance of managing digital assets alongside traditional ones, especially for applications such as collateral management. He also explored the potential for interoperability between private and public ledgers and the innovative ideas such as bridging tokenization islands to increase market access. #SDX #digitalassets #blockchain #interoperability

At yesterday's Point Zero Forum roundtable moderated by FINMA, the participants discussed the risks and opportunities of public chain usage in regulated markets. Björn Flückiger, Head Legal at SDX, presented his views on how regulated financial market infrastructures will continue to have an essential role to play in a future public chain market model and outlined how SIX Digital Exchange could assist the regulated market in starting this transition. "Connectivity with traditional financial market infrastructures is a mandatory stepping stone for the transition towards a public chain market model.
