INEOS Olefins & Polymers North produces chemicals and polymers used to produce a wide range of derivative products that both enable and enhance many aspects of life today. Our products are found in applications as diverse as automotive components, sports equipment, packaging that extends food shelf life, pipes that carry important utilities and medical equipment. Whether it’s driving up plastic recycling rates or reducing production emissions, the business is taking concrete action across the value chain to help create a more sustainable future.
INEOS led the way in demonstrating safe and efficient storage during the pilot phase of Project Greensand last year.
Building on this success and recognising the Danish subsurface’s significant potential for CO2 storage, we have now been awarded an exploration license for onshore CO2 storage…

Watch this new video about the construction of the concrete outer wall of the Project ONE ethane tank, a precision job that took 15 days of non-stop work. More than 1,300 employees continue to build Europe’s most sustainable ethane cracker. Go to our LinkedIn post last week to watch a similar video about how the tank floor slab was poured.
Later this year, the steel roof will be installed and then further work will be carried out on the interior finishing.

The Project ONE yard in Antwerp is a hive of activity: more than 1,300 employees are at work, building Europe’s most sustainable ethane cracker. In the past two months, a first important landmark has been built at the yard in Lillo: the ethane tank. In this video, watch how the floor slab was poured.
With a capacity of 197,000 m3, it’s the largest cryogenic tank in Europe. It will store the raw material for the cracker - ethane - in a liquid state at a temperature of -95 °C.
The realisation of the tank is a technical feat. At the beginning of April, 9,000 m3 of concrete was poured over 3 days to create the tank’s floor slab. Due to the properties of the concrete, it was important to have these works continue continuously, 24/7.
This was followed in May by the construction of the concrete outer wall, a precision job that took 15 days of non-stop work. Later this year, the steel roof will be installed and then further work will be carried out on the interior finishing.
Thanks to our contractor partners who made this work run smoothly!
