Hear from #Nigerian health leaders and find out who has just been inducted to the first #Immunization Collaborative – and why. https://lnkd.in/eQ7NECEX #VaccinesWork See the first comment for the link to learn more and apply. The 1 July 2024 meeting of the first Nigeria Movement for Immunization Agenda 2030 (IA2030) Collaborative announced the names of the first batch of Nigeria health leaders inducted into the Collaborative. As of 1 July, 699 health professionals had already expressed interest in joining the Collaborative. Those inducted to the Collaborative come from 33 states, 71 LGAs, a mix of health system levels. Forty percent are women. 46 Nigerian organizations – including an eclectic mix of local government agencies, civil society organizations, and private businesses like pharmacies – have already become official Partners of the Collaborative. Why are health leaders coming together to launch this Collaborative? “In Nigeria, many children do not receive the vaccines that they need. As health workers, I think we can do more if we come together to see how we can reduce the number of under-immunized children.” In this dialogue, participants shared their immunization challenges and the goals they hope to achieve through the Collaborative. The top three challenges identified by the Collaborative are reaching zero-dose children, missed vaccinations, and disruptions to routine immunization. The Collaborative is a partnership between the Geneva Learning Foundation, UNICEF, and Nigeria’s National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) to support health workers in strengthening routine immunization.
