Employee Assistance Office

The Employee Assistance Office helps faculty and staff identify and resolve personal and professional issues that may affect their performance at work or family and social relationships.

Mental health is a critical component of our overall well-being. Personal stressors, work-related changes and interpersonal conflict can impact our mental well-being at any stage of life. In fact, more than one in five adults in the U.S. lives with a mental health condition.

If you are struggling, you are not alone. The Employee Assistance Office has licensed mental health counselors on staff to help navigate these challenges and ensure you get the support you need. Employees and managers can contact the EAO for assistance on various behavioral health topics that may impact individuals or teams.

All services EAO provides are confidential and voluntary. There are no out-of-pocket fees for benefits-eligible ASU faculty, staff, spouses and their dependents.

Services include:

  • Assessment and evaluation of mental health conditions.
  • Consultation and education on any behavioral health topic.
  • Crisis support — during regular business hours.
  • In-person or telehealth visits.
  • Personalized information, referrals and resources.
  • Short-term mental health counseling.
  • Staff Helping Staff emergency fund, in collaboration with ASU Staff Council.

Visit our employee counseling services webpage for details about scheduling an appointment, common mental health conditions treated at the EAO, as well as information about sexual violence and relationship support.

For additional community services and referrals, visit our local and national resources webpage for resources related to mental well-being, telehealth providers, community assistance or the working parent network.
