Men yellow or orange: patrollers are in the spotlight   The lives of patrol drivers on duty are still too often put at risk by drivers who are not concentrating on driving or who show little respect for the Highway Code. Every year, patrollers lose their lives in the course of their work. These terrible accidents highlight the very real risks to which these guardian angels are exposed daily, even though they are trained to intervene in complete safety, according to tried and tested procedures. Whatever the network concerned, these professionals still observe too many dangerous behaviors: drowsiness and inattentiveness at the wheel, failure to respect safety distances, authorized speeds, or the safety corridor. This year, the patrollers will once again be taking center stage on this day, sharing their experiences, providing information on the difficulties they encounter and reminding us of the importance of being vigilant and respecting the Highway Code when driving. Drivers will be able to take part in a wide range of workshops and simulations to illustrate in practical terms the risks they face daily to ensure the safety of everyone on the roads. Government of Canada - Icebreaker Collaboration Effort (ICE Pact) On July 11th, Canada, Finland, and the United States announced the formation of the Icebreaker Collaboration Effort (ICE Pact). The ICE Pact recognizes their joint priority of upholding safety and security in the Arctic, including the continued protection of long-standing international rules and norms. This strategic partnership will deepen existing co-operation among these three key Arctic countries by strengthening the marine industries in each country and allowing new equipment and capabilities to be produced more quickly. Canada, Finland, and the United States will enhance technical collaboration and information exchange, but also work more closely together to engage our Allies and partners to help meet future global demand for polar vessels. Canadian world-class expertise in Arctic and polar capabilities is foundational to the success of the ICE Pact. British Columbia to Test Emergency Alert System Across All Platforms This Wednesday During Emergency Preparedness Week, British Columbia will conduct a province-wide test of its emergency alert system. This test, scheduled for 10:55 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, will broadcast across all compatible cellphones and will interrupt radio and television programs. The Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness is conducting this test to evaluate the system's effectiveness in a real crisis. Expanded in 2022, the BC Emergency Alerts now cover a range of imminent threats including floods, wildfires, and extreme heat emergencies. The alerts will be issued automatically and are free for users. But what kinds of patrols do guards typically conduct?    🥾 Foot Patrol – Just like it sounds, foot patrols involve guards walking through an area. These patrols are perfect for thoroughly assessing a location, accessing small spaces, or areas where vehicles can't go.    🚗 Mobile Patrol – Conducted with vehicles like cars or motorbikes, mobile patrols are ideal for businesses with large sites or multiple buildings. Vehicles help guards cover large areas quickly and efficiently.    👣 Active Patrol – Active patrols involve guards regularly leaving their posts to inspect a premise or area. These patrols often follow a scheduled routine and are highly effective in office environments.    ⁉️ Random Patrol – Unlike active patrols, random patrols have no set pattern or start time. Their unpredictability makes it difficult for criminals to monitor, serving as a stronger deterrent against crime.    ◀️ Direct Patrol – In direct patrols, guards focus on one specific area of your business, usually a vulnerable spot or a location where crime has previously occurred.
