Winsome Resources Ltd has achieved a significant milestone with its updated Mineral Resource Estimate for the Adina lithium project in Québec. The updated lithium MRE now ranks as the fourth largest lithium deposit in Québec, with approximately 61.4 Mt @ 1.14% Li2O indicated mineral resource and 16.5 Mt @ 1.19% Li2O inferred mineral resource, based on a 0.6% Li2O cutoff grade. This represents a significant increase in tonnage from the prior MRE. The resource update incorporates approximately 58,000m of drilling, with Winsome Resources Ltd expecting to complete almost 100,000m of drilling by year end 2024. LRC holds a 4.0% GOR and a 2.0% NSR on certain claims at the Adina lithium project. #mining #lithium #resources #Quebec

TRU Precious Metals Corp. (TSXV:TRU) (“TRU” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce its intent to carry out an exploration program this spring and summer at its Golden Rose Project (“Golden Rose”) in Western-Central Newfoundland. Exploration will assess the critical minerals potential associated with the deposit-bearing Cape Ray – Valentine Lake Shear Zone and will be copper (“Cu”)-focused. The program will also investigate other critical minerals occurrences hosting nickel (“Ni”) and zinc (“Zn”), which have been identified in previous exploration activities carried out by the Company. The objective of the exploration program is to develop a deeper understanding of the overall critical minerals potential at Golden Rose, supplementing the heightened prospectivity of Golden Rose for gold. The program will include prospecting, grab (rock) sampling, reconnaissance soil sampling and trenching over interpreted critical minerals anomalies determined through previous work by the Company, historical data compilation, and recently acquired high resolution satellite and remote sensing data over the entire property. Many of the planned target areas have had limited exploration to date. https://lnkd.in/g-r4tfXQ #news #latest #TRU #precious #metals #copper #Gold

Lots of posts recently about the potential impact of increased #capitalgainstax inclusion rate on #innovation funding in Canada have caused me to think hard about this on some long walks. I can't separate my judgment of CGT fairness from my opinion of the values held by the wealth accumulators who pay CGT. Reductio ad absurdum: if the only people accumulating wealth were criminals, few of us would have a problem with increased CGT. OK, so that's a legal distinction, but what about #ethics? We know that many acts that are legal are not ethical, and, surprise!, I also don't care whether unethical people get taxed more. OK, so what about people who accumulate passive wealth as a byproduct of rentier behaviour, leading to control of more assets? Sorry, your REIT gains are also not on my caring radar. We're getting down to a pretty small number now. So what about #startup #founders and their #investors? Now I can start to care, but honestly that depends on whether the companies are trying to solve meaningful problems for humanity. If it's just another attention-theft app, or a perpetual motion machine scam, why should I care? So now perhaps we're down to #impactinvestors and #socialenterprise founders. Especially the ones who are going to invest patiently in #changingthesystem: these are the CGT payers I can get behind. The only problem is, in 5 years of advocating for system change as an entrepreneur, I have yet to meet such an investor. Or indeed a founder who values wealth accumulation to an extent that would put them above the threshold. So, a provocation: if you are a wealth accumulator, show me that you can use your wealth to invest in ethical, #sustainable system change more effectively than government can by taxing it. Then I'll advocate for you to be spared. But there's a lot of bathwater around that baby.

Chuffed to announce Varme Energy's strategic partnership with Gibson Energy and PSP Investments-backed Canada Growth Fund (CGF) for the development of the first waste-to-energy with carbon capture facility in Canada. Our project, located on Gibson land in the Alberta Industrial Heartland, will be diverting Edmonton's municipal waste otherwise destined for landfill, avoiding methane release and capturing the CO2 for permanent sequestration. The energy we generate from this process will be net carbon negative. The groundbreaking carbon offtake contract entered into with CGF will ensure the financeability of the project while at the same time allowing us to participate in the voluntary market for Bioenergy with CCS (BECCS) credits, monetising the project's atmospheric carbon removal credentials. At the Mount Milligan mine in BC, Canada, we produce a gold-copper concentrate which is sold to third parties, including smelters and traders for further refining. What happens next? Once the refining process is complete, the gold and copper are separated into their pure forms. The economics have to stand up from the outset for clean projects to succeed. The only advantage to be sought from government should come from accessing carbon tax credits and/ or validated federal carbon offsets. These are essential to secure the necessary project equity while the commercial offtake can underwrite debt. Not the reverse. Well done Pattern Energy Group.

After a year's-long construction saga, TMX finally delivered its first barrels in late May. The milestone marks a new chapter for Western Canadian markets, with the significant expansion unlocking new westbound capacity to Pacific Basin markets.
