Renegade Gold (RAGE.V) reports additional results from the first phase of drilling at its advanced Newman Todd Deposit in Red Lake, Ontario. (see news release link below) This is their first major program targeting below 300 metres, which has successfully extended high-grade gold mineralization in multiple holes to a depth of more than 750 m. This drilling has also identified a new hanging wall zone of high-grade gold, which will be prioritized for further drill testing in the near future. And we are on. One of our Canadian uranium companies $AERO plans to start drilling on its projects on the northern edge of the Athabasca Basin, which is known worldwide for its uranium deposits, in early June. Numerous historic high-grade uranium occurrences have also been identified at surface on the project area, ranging from 0.1% to 12.39% U3O8. This range is particularly noteworthy when compared to typical grades in other significant mining operations in Canada's Athabasca Basin, where grades can average around 1-2% U3O8. We are very excited to announce the option to acquire this high-grade copper project in Newfoundland. In doing so, we have expanded on what is already one of the largest land packages in the province and further enhanced our portfolio of potential. Although we have copper throughout our various projects, the Blue Cove Project represents a pure play copper opportunity in a world that requires a significant amount of this base metal for the energy transition. It is an early stage project however, we are looking forward to exploration activities we have planned there for later this summer. Water in Mining Summit Day 2 summary and wrap up The main themes: Proactive water stewardship, fragility of trust, transparency and communications, partnerships. Lots of presentation from a Canadian perspective. In my opinion, this experience on partnerships and trust do not necessarily apply to other regions the same way, and not all mining companies have the same vision on the importance of transparency regarding water. Do what you say you will do, and if you cannot do it, say so. Great case study from BHP on the Lisbon mine. Interesting offline discussions afterwards on how change in mine ownership may affect trust and transparency. This is also relevant given the amount of recent M&A’s that have taken place in the mining sector. How committed is the industry in going all the way up to post-closure? Is the mining sector willing to call out “bad” ESG performers as they stain the reputation of the good ones as well? Incorporation of water as a risk factor, internal corporate metrics and incentivised targets on water efficiency. This by itself may become a risk as not necessarily all water withdrawals are being monitored, and thus the operational water use KPI’s possibly do not represent total water impact in catchments. Also these KPI definitions may not be aligned with disclosure requirements. Even though water is local, great to have the insights and presence at the conference of close to 30% of global copper and gold production, to understand the state of the challenges these companies are facing. All in all, great presentations, with a focus on corporate water stewardship and management. Lots to be done. As BHP indicated, they may be overall on 60% of the journey, not sure there are many companies that have made more advancement. Most important of the 2 days: real transparent conversations between mining companies, regulators, consultants and technology providers on water stewardship and management. Let’s get some sleep now

This positive for future development of LPF battery supply chain in North America, with phosphate projects located in Canada. Market analysts are forecasting global demand requiring both high-nickel (NMC) and LFP batteries in the long-term.

The latest The Fraser Institute survey on #mining companies is very telling of the industry challenges in #Canada. Despite having some of the top mining jurisdictions in the world, regulation and lengthy permitting processes are stifling the potential of many #provinces and #territories. I can't believe this still happens....... I had a call from some investors a few weeks ago about a resource project (not related to this particular metal, company, or event) and their primary question was "How well co-ordinated would the managment team need to be to co-ordinate meddling with the resource database for a mineral project"?. They asked about specifically about assay values, borehole locations, core logs etc. I initially scoffed at the idea. "There are checks and balances in the procedures now, everything is double checked and validated." "This can't happen after the changes to the regulations and the 43-101 reporting standards." Their response was "But if someone really wanted to manipulate the data and took great pains to cover it up, could it be done?" "Bah", said I. "That would take a superhuman effort." It appears I was wrong. I will be more cautious in the future when asked about this type of "hypothetical" situation. This is another hard knock to the junior mining sectors credibility and trustworthiness in the eyes of the investors. We can (and need to) do better. https://lnkd.in/giQiiP7E
