Another coveted accolade for this exceptional project!
The strength of our work lies in our collaborators. We are heartened to share that the Downsview Framework Plan, a joint effort between ourselves, Canada Lands Company, has received the 2024 AZURE Media People's Choice Award for Urban Design Unbuilt Developments. This recognition is a testament to the power of collaboration and shared vision. Working hand-in-hand with our exceptional partners, we have collectively envisioned the area’s lands as a future community that will support over 80,000 residents, generate more than 40,000 jobs, and feature 100 acres of vibrant new parkland. Built upon years of engagement, our collective vision will turn these largely vacant lands into a global model for sustainable urban development, focusing on low-carbon density, active mobility, and nature-based stormwater management systems. We’d like to thank all of our partners and collaborators: 📐 Design: Henning Larsen, KPMB Architects, SLA, Urban Strategies Inc. 🚗 Transportation: BA Consulting Group Ltd. 💡 Energy: Transsolar KlimaEngineering 🏗️ Municipal Infrastructure: Arup 🌱 Sustainability/Climate Resilience: Ramboll 📢 Public Engagement: Third Party Public, FUTURE SIMPLE STUDIO, Department of Words and Deeds 💬 Indigenous Engagement: Nbisiing Consulting Inc. 🤝 Equity Advisors: Monumental This plan has been a years-long labor of dedication and passion, and we are thrilled to receive this recognition from our industry peers. https://lnkd.in/gbmasJDv

Tenblock's transformative infill development proposal at 155 Antibes Drive is heading to North York Community Council on July 9 with a recommendation from City Planning for rezoning approval. Led by Tenblock Development Manager Dan Kwak OAA, our proposal will deliver 892 new apartments in three sustainable buildings (36, 32 and 8-storeys), while retaining and improving the existing 16-storey building with 259 apartments. Our vision to prioritize connectivity and support active transportation will be realized through a transformed public realm, including a 9.1m wide multi-use trail connecting Bathurst St and the neighbourhood, pedestrian-friendly driveway and streetscapes, top-notch bicycle facilities, on-site retail targeting a bike café tenant, and an 870 sq. m. POPS that will function as a public plaza and cycling hub with publicly-accessible cycling amenities and Bike Share Toronto stations. As with all of Tenblock’s projects, 155 Antibes will deliver a generous public realm, with nearly 50% of the 1.9 ha (4.7 acre) site dedicated to landscaping and green space including a new 560 m² public park, 72 new canopy trees, children's play area, community gardens, a shaded seating hub for the 125 Drewry bus to Finch Station, and private outdoor amenities for residents. Sustainable housing is a key priority for Tenblock, and our new buildings will make use of the latest systems and principles, with geo-exchange heating and cooling as a backbone technology for the master plan, enabling our goal to achieve higher tiers of the Toronto Green Standard and achieve net zero in all new buildings by 2030. We are grateful to work with dedicated City staff, including Senior Planner Marty Rokos, Senior Urban Designer Kaari Kitawi, and collaborative management from Shelly Cham and David Sit MCIP RPP. Special appreciation is also extended to thank Councillor James Pasternak and his office. In credit of everyone’s tremendous work and support, we look forward to appearing at North York Community Council on July 9, 2024. The Tewin team reached a major milestone in our study process this week. We held a successful in-person Public Open House to share preliminary ideas and opportunities for this new, sustainable 450 hectare community in southeast Ottawa, being led by a partnership between the Algonquins of Ontario, Taggart and Caivan.
Our Downtown Tomorrow Plan for City of Orillia is profiled in OrilliaMatters. "The plan’s 31 strategic initiatives are organized across several main themes, consultants said, including facilitating mixed-income housing development, encouraging more people to visit downtown Orillia, positioning the city as a four-season destination, and celebrating Indigenous culture and history." https://lnkd.in/gg8di4cV

Welcome to Urban Strategies' new Collaborative Studio in downtown #Hamilton! In Spring 2024 we became the first tenants in the heritage King John Building at 62+64 King Street, beautifully reimagined by Toms + McNally Design for developers Malcolm Silver and Patrick Bermingham of Bermingham Studio. Strategists are thriving in the light-filled space and enjoying incredible views of #gorepark. Come for a visit! Contact Studio Lead Josh Neubauer for more information. https://lnkd.in/gRFvR2Af
Thank you for the lovely remarks! We are delighted to have an opportunity to share insights from this amazing project.
Have you ever found yourself being introduced to the insights on how a massive urban city project such as The Well came about, and hear all about the infrastructure, the sustainable concept, the visions of the creators while actually being there? Holland House Canada and her members want to thoroughly thank BDP Quadrangle's Jan Schotte and Dhruv Soni for not only opening their offices but also explaining all of the work that went on behind closed doors when designing The Well in downtown Toronto. Dennis Lago of Urban Strategies Inc.; words fall short on the amazing presentation and insights you gave us last Wednesday. Thank you so much! The enthusiasm in our group of lucky members was tangible. As it should. This project deserves all the praise! After being awestruck by the tour, we all gathered in the very hospitable restaurant Bridgette which created a perfect setting for networking for our members.
