#MyFavouriteToy was a rag doll, was big, with a plastic head and bright blue hair, I called her Clementina, she was my best friend, her appearance was different and striking, not like common dolls and I liked that and that's how I wanted to be me, different, beautiful and striking, everything that in reality I felt intimidated Clementina was confident and strong. This black and white image totally dates me, but #MyFavouriteToy growing up was my "trottinette". With its oversized wheels and classy blue color, this scooter let me zip around the neighborhood with total freedom. What a confidence booster! Growing up, #MyFavouriteToy was my wedding-themed Barbie and Ken doll set. Through the thoughtful components that came along with the set such as a bouquet, wedding cake and champaign glasses, I was able to use my imagination to conduct plenty of imaginary weddings for all of my dolls! We were living in Jamaica at the time and when we flew home to Canada for the holidays, she was sold out everywhere but my parents managed to find 1 at a random store in the very back - the technology of her lips moving with a tape cassette in her back was mind blowing and made her feel like a real friend! Growing up, #MyFavouriteToy was a simple walking doll, named Candy. It was not battery operated. When I raised her right arm, her left leg made a step then I would raise her left arm and her right leg would make a step. Now that I think about it, I say to myself - geez, that would have taken a long time before Candy and I could get anywhere! But I didn't care! I was enjoying playing with Candy specially when we would ride my red plastic car!
