Today marks a significant milestone for SANDSTONE Asset Management — our 20th anniversary! Over the past two decades, we have grown from a fledgling firm, dubbed "the little engine that could", into a respected leader in wealth management, "creating possibilities" for our clients, colleagues, and community. Above all, this milestone is a celebration of the incredible relationships we have built and shared with our clients over the years — and for that we are grateful.  To commemorate this special anniversary, we dug through the archives to invite you along a trip down memory lane. We are thrilled to share the incredible success of last night's Calgary Surge season opener! The energy at the Scotiabank Saddledome was electric, setting a new attendance record with 12,327 fans pulling up. We are especially proud of the 2,450 kids who were able to experience the excitement firsthand through the #SurgeASSIST program in partnership with Kids Up Front Calgary. As the lead champion sponsor, it warms our hearts to see so many young fans enjoying the game and creating lifelong memories. Let's keep this momentum going as we embark on another thrilling season.

There is a widespread belief that adults make around 35,000 decisions a day. This intangible tally ranges from the inconsequential, like choosing what to wear to a wedding or where to sit in a meeting, to the crucial, like choosing where to buy your first home or when to start collecting CPP and OAS payments. Granted, children’s choice between airfare chicken-or-beef or whether to vacation in the Dolomites or Dubai this spring are hardly points of interest for parents. This International Women's Day, we were delighted to stumble upon an article by The Globe and Mail that dives deep into the annals of Canadian history to feature, of all people, Sharon Watkins' great (multiple times over) aunt. Kathleen Blake Coleman, better known to newspaper readers as “Kit of the Mail”, was a beloved columnist at The Mail (one of the publications that would become today’s The Globe and Mail). Decidedly ahead of her time (it runs in the family), Kit made great strides in journalism. She was the first accredited female war correspondent in North America and made history by covering the Spanish–American War of 1898 from the Cuban battlefront.   One of her legacies and career highlights was forming and being the first president of the Canadian Women’s Press Club in 1904. In 2023, the Royal Canadian Mint issued two collector coins in her honour, making her the first female journalist to appear on a Canadian coin.
