One of the major drawbacks of my courses is the fact that I use the Python Power Electronics circuit simulator, which almost no one uses. For a lot of engineers, having to learn something on a simulation platform that is not used, makes the learning of little value. Over the next couple of months, I will be re-creating my online courses using QSPICE. QSPICE has been in the limelight for being a trending software with many on LinkedIn posting their simulation results. And the best part is that QSPICE is free to use. Stay tuned for more updates.

About us
Python Power Electronics is a free and open source circuit simulator for power engineering applications. This software is used for creating online courses and writing books on various topics in power electronics and electrical engineering. The primary objective is to increase the use of open source software in electrical engineering and build an online collaborative community similar to those existing in the software domain. With climate change being one of the biggest threats to our future, the need for well trained power engineers will be paramount in the years to come. From the perspective of education, it is therefore, extremely important to encourage young engineers to choose power engineering as their major. Through online courses that have a strong foundation in programming and emerging technology such as data science, it is essential that power engineering education is presented in a manner very different to the way it currently is. Other than young engineers who might be pursuing their formal education, another target audience is working professionals who are currently in the power sector. The online courses are designed to be useful for working professionals who wish to upgrade their skills to take on more challenging roles in the industry. Until now, my approach to making education accessible in the field of power electronics has mainly been through online courses and books. Writing a book can take anywhere between 3 and 6 months depending on the contents, and once the book is done, creating an online course on the same topic can take 1 to 2 months. To accelerate the process, I have been considering recruiting researchers. However, their stipend will need to be paid from the revenue generated from book royalties and course enrollment. Unfortunately, these two have been limited sources of revenue. To recruit researchers on a regular basis, I am considering starting paid online sessions for teaching power electronics and also programming related to it such as simulation, microcontroller programming etc. These paid sessions will enable me to recruit researchers on a regular basis and write more books and create more courses. In the next few weeks, I will set up this platform and announce it here on this page. This poll is primarily for those whose first language is not English. One of the best aspects of teaching online on Udemy is being able to reach out to engineers all over the world. Udemy has auto captioning (subtitles) and also translates the subtitles into other languages. However, for many students, reading subtitles takes away the joy of watching instructional videos, as then one might as well just read text books. With the latest advances in AI based translation, particularly some of the promo videos related to Chat GPT, audio translation might be something that could become practical and implementable. From my analysis of student backgrounds, besides English, Spanish, Arabic and Portuguese form the three biggest language groups. It would be wonderful if students could watch videos with audio in their own languages. If anyone uses any translation apps, please feel free to comment.

Small signal stability of a power converter determines its behavior during and after a disturbance. This analysis is critical in most cases, as any power electronics engineer needs to verify that the power converter returns to a suitable equilibrium point following a disturbance and within an acceptable time interval. In my next book on mathematical analysis for power electronics, I use Lyapunov's stability criteria in combination with linear algebra to determine the transient behavior of a converter, and using simulations can show that the theoretical results are accurate.
