On June 25, 2024, at Google's office in Toronto, NPower Canada participants had the opportunity to meet and network with 6 Google volunteers from various roles and received valuable job search and career advancement advice. The event began with a 20-minute panel during which the Googlers introduced themselves, their career journeys and their day-to-day. This was followed by a rotational speed networking session for more 1:1 questions and discussions. The event concluded with a recap, additional questions from the audience, and closing remarks. This event was hosted by Google as part of their annual company-wide volunteering campaign. Thank you to our volunteers Keaton Davis, Uchechi Udeoka, Pratana C., and Breanne Schroder, and Google for hosting this event and inviting NPower Canada to participate in the GoogleServe campaign! #Google #GoogleServe #Googlers #Mentors #Volunteers #Tech #Techcareers #TechinCanada #Partner #NPowerCanada

In June, our participants had the exciting opportunity to attend multiple events with our partners and volunteers. As such, we are launching our June Monthly Volunteer Events Round-Up in two parts. To start, Part 1 provides an overview of our events with Google and other volunteers. Let's jump into the events we had this month. June 5 - Career Talk with Luqman Hakeem from Google To start the month, Luqman from Google joined our participants and started the session by telling his story about his beginnings in Canada. The participants had lots of questions for Luqman about volunteer experience and about Google's application process, work-life balance and IT marketplace. Luqman shared that failure is a learning opportunity and added that everyday learning is common in IT. June 6 - Guest speaker event: Job interviews, Jeff Borisko Jeff met with our Junior IT Analyst participants and began with a short introduction about his journey as a career coach and entrepreneur. Jeff shared important statistics about interviews and the factors that contribute to experiencing a higher chance of being successful. He also shared the importance of being prepared for all kinds of questions that may be asked during the interview. Jeff shared about the PAR method of answering behavioral situational questions which participants found very informative to learn about. June 14 - Q&A Event with Zeev Glauberzon from Google This event was focused on what the participants were interested in and what kind of questions they needed answers to. Zeev, a Principal Transformation Lead from Google, took the time to answer as many questions as he could, providing guidance and insight based on his career working across multiple countries, organizations and teams. Zeev provided advice to participants that are pivoting careers, and those looking to find their start in the job market. Thank you, Google for the continuous investment in NPower Canada, and our participants and graduates. Watch out for Part 2 which will cover our other events with our partners and volunteers. #Careers #CareersinCanada #CommunityPartners #Mentoring #NPowerCanada #Google #Partners #Recruitment #VolunteerEvents
