How do you prioritize cyber risks to allocate resources effectively?
In conducting a risk assessment to help with prioritization of cyber risks, two questions should be on your mind: 1. What is the likelihood that a vulnerability will be exploited? Notice that this is not asking about the likelihood of the vulnerability existing - we are more concerned about exploitation of the vulnerability. 2. If that vulnerability does get exploited, what is the potential damage or impact that would occur? Think about people, financials, reputation, and overall impact to the organization’s systems and data. Likelihood x Impact Severity = Risk Priority. If a risk is more likely to be exploited and if its exploitation would cause catastrophic damage, that risk should be top priority for you. Using a risk matrix helps.

To keep growing, it’s important to not just focus on getting coaching for yourself. Why not think about sharing some of the coaching you have already received with others? Teaching is the best form of learning! You would very quickly find that in attempting to coach others, you’re training yourself to be refined in your skills and be more coachable. Many persons worry about not “knowing enough” to coach others. However, the truth is that the much you know, could be the missing piece in someone else’s puzzle. 🧩 As you begin to coach others, you can reflect on the coaching experience - both what you did and what the person you coached did - then apply the lessons learned to improve yourself when others coach you. That’s leadership! 💯
