The NER wrapped up its meeting in Montreal last week and it was a really good one. Attendees walked away with a foundation on the latest and greatest from the government updates, AI and the related risks and benefits to utilities and customers. It really does take a village to host a meeting such as this one. The level of engagement and discussion was truly amazing. The federal government updates are an integral part of our meetings. Every six months various federal representatives participate in our discussions and ensure we have the most recent information. This time we were fortunate to have François-Philippe Champagne (via video), Chris Padfield, Ajit Pardasani, Lynn Adams, Jean-Philippe Bernier (NRCan) and Shannon Glenn. Shatha Qaqish-Clavering, Executive Director, Climate Positive Energy Initiative, University of Toronto, also provided an overview of the Modernization Center in Toronto. Finally, we were able to receive critical updates from Dominique Deschênes (ADM, Ministry of Energy, Government of Quebec) and Christian Bélanger, Senior Director -- Research and Innovation, Hydro Quebec. Merci! Our next meeting will take place in Ottawa, November 27-28. This meeting will focus on the politics of getting to 2050. Stay tuned for more information.
