Now vs. then! ✨ The Westwood Village Community in #cambridge is progressing beautifully! MTE has provided consultation, design and advice on the servicing, grading and stormwater management solutions to support approvals and development since 2005. Our team initially developed a surface water monitoring program to assess conditions within the watercourses and wetland features. We were also involved with prepared technical studies for two separate Draft Plan of Subdivision applications related to development of 63 ha of land held by two of the owners. ✨ Project Spotlight ✨ MTE has had the pleasure of working on various distribution warehouses across Ontario, including the Amazon St. Thomas YXU-1 Robotics Sortation Centre. Situated at 11884 Sunset Drive in St Thomas, Ontario, this new Robotics Sortation Centre features a surface area of approximately 2.8 million square-feet over 4 storeys, with a ground floor of roughly 700,000 sq. ft, and approximately 120,000 sf of mezzanine space. MTE was proud to provide a range of services including civil, structural, geotechnical, environmental, and surveying services. Our work has also extended to warehouse facilities in prominent cities such as Toronto, Mississauga, and Cambridge. Each project has enhanced our deep understanding of the logistical and operational demands essential for efficient warehouse design and construction. The rise in sustainable building design has caused mass timber to become a growingly popular choice in achieving sustainability goals. With the Ontario Government | Gouvernement de l’Ontario announcing its plans to expand mass timber construction up to 18 storeys, mass timber building code in Ontario will meet the growing demand for eco-friendly construction solutions. For this reason, MTE’s structural engineering team has made significant advancements with mass timber projects, including the Franklin Flats located in #kitchener. MTE provided structural, civil, survey, geotechnical, and environmental engineering services for this project. This affordable housing project includes eco-friendly construction such as triple pane windows, rainwater recovery and solar panels, and mass timber construction. #Tbt to the Greater Toronto Airports Authority Link Train System project! 🚊 As the structural consultant, MTE conducted inspections of the guideway structure and support system to uncover potential safety issues and structural deficiencies. Our team developed repair procedures for surface cracks and restoration techniques for grout under bearing plates, overseeing the pier repairs throughout construction. Additionally, MTE organized visual surveys of the APM-Link Train steel superstructure over Airport Road from 2007 to 2016 and completed surveys of the steel guideway and concrete piers in 2009 and 2016. #MTEproject #structuralengineering #toronto #GTA #transit #Pearsonairport

Earlier this year, the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) initiated a Landscape Design Competition aimed at revitalizing its Toronto headquarters. On June 27, the Association unveiled the selected winner chosen by the jury, with the winning team being awarded the contract to redesign the landscaping at the OAA Headquarters. In addition to showcasing design excellence, competitors were asked to create a welcoming arrival experience, enhance the building, incorporate public art, recognize the role of sustainability and water use in the health of the environment, and acknowledge the Don River ravine context. "Team Chestnut", led by Nima Javidi and Behnaz Assadi from Ja: Architecture and Design Studio alongside landscape architect Todd Douglas from Janet Rosenberg & Studio and civil engineer Kayam Ramsewak from MTE, claimed the top spot with their visionary and sustainable proposal titled "The Grounding Meadow"! A big congratulations to Team Chestnut, & MTE's Kayam Ramsewak for their winning design! 🎖️ We look forward to seeing the design come to life! #architecture #landscape #OAA #MTExpertise
