From IT to UG, our Information Technology team is another group of unsung heroes keeping operations smooth and connected behind the scenes. Systems Administrator Geraldo Leal recently traveled from Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada to support drilling teams at the incredible Oyu Tolgoi Copper Mine in Mongolia. We congratulate our innovation partner MEDATECH Engineering Services Ltd. on the introduction of the RodBot™ hydraulic robotic handler that eliminates manual rod and casing handling. RodBot is a rod-handling solution that saves time and is 100% hands-free. Since 2021, Major Drilling and MEDATech have collaborated to combine Major Drilling's practical knowledge of drilling and drill safety with MEDATech's ingenuity and ease of the RodBot controls. We provided significant guidance on the development of the RodBot’s grapple by implementing the Major Drilling #TrailBlazerSafeGrip (close-up photo), while MEDATech refined everything from the machine’s fine motor control to its software. We have entered into an agreement with MEDATech for exclusive rights to RodBot for use in exploration diamond drilling, everywhere we operate. “Rod handling is the part of drilling historically most prone to accidents,” said Marc Landry, VP Technology & Logistics. “Major Drilling is committed to reducing risk for our employees and so we are pleased to have found a solution that really works—the MEDATech Borterra RodBot.” #RodBot #mining #safety #MajorDrilling

Our Mexico teams are on site for a 20-hole sonic drill program supporting Xali Gold's work at the El Oro Tailings Project. Drilling is being carried out to take a representative sample which will be used in metallurgical test work, part of planning for the environmental rehabilitation project to clean up the Mexico Mines Tailings in El Oro. #gold #QualitySafetyResults #MajorDrilling

Nothing beats firsthand experience. Several of our Salt Lake City, Utah, USA office staff went into the field to gain greater understanding of the drilling services they support each day. These #womeninmining traveled to Green River, Wyoming where they toured a surface RC rig and learned more about drilling operations with the crew.   After the Salt Lake visitors witnessed how their work impacts field ops, and seeing how specialized and valuable the work is that crews perform around the clock, it was a successful day of fostering greater understanding among all teams.   Major Drilling America General Manager Nguyen Do is proud of the hard work each person in every role does to deliver Major Drilling's #QualitySafetyResults. As #FathersDay weekend begins, we're delighted to highlight three talented members of our Major Drilling Argentina Branch maintenance team: Francisco "Pancho" Luján and his sons Nahuel and Lautaro.   Pancho is the Maintenance Supervisor at our Mendoza maintenance shop. For 20 years he has been an integral part of the team, most recently involved in major shop improvements that are supporting the surge of drilling activity in the region. His sons are both welders, and he's proud to see how their careers are progressing as they improve their techniques year by year. After periods of sending his sons into the field to support drilling sites, he's always glad to reunite at the shop.   Nahuel likes the vocation of welding and strives to do his best at work every day, just as his father has. He's proud to follow a man who is not only his boss, but also a great example. "Every step he takes, my brother and I follow him as members of the team and as sons, hoping to give him our best as he has given to us."   Lautaro says being able to work at Major Drilling has helped him advance his career by having tools and techniques to perform with greater confidence at each project. Being with his dad and brother at work is an extra boost for him. "Having members of my family in the same company makes me feel more content. It is something positive because I can share time with them in the same job."        Our best wishes to the Luján family who are a great representation of our positive work environment and company culture in action.
