International Internship Conference

It's been 3 weeks since we were last in #Ireland for #iicdublin2024! Over the next few weeks, we will be highlighting various breakout sessions where all of the learning took place. We thank all of our #presenters for contributing to the success of the conference! Karima Ramji of University of Victoria presented on advancing #UN #SDGs through #coop #education, which highlighted a unique partnership with CIFAL Victoria that significantly benefits the students. Breanne Tcheng of University of California, Berkeley and Julie Ann Andreshak of FIE: Foundation for International Education discussed key considerations as it relates to sexual and gender-based misconduct in #internationalinternships. #intled #highered #globaled #WIL #studyabroad

🇮🇪 In case you missed it, EdOdyssey President & Founder Peter M. McGovern was a panelist at the Employability Plenary during June’s International Internship Conference in Dublin. 🎓 Facilitated by Dr. Maureen Manning from The PIE, the theme was “Cultivating Global Professionals: Exploring Key Factors in Post-Graduation Employability.” 💬 We’d love to hear your thoughts on these three standout points that were made during the panel: 🔺 𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝟭: Early exposure to travel is important. It teaches students to identify cultural differences, appreciate languages, and—through true immersion in diverse cultures—start to build the confidence and maturity necessary to navigate our interconnected world. 🔺 𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝟮: First-year experiences will continue to play an important role in fostering professional and cultural competence by supporting students in their learning, academic exploration, community-building, and transition from secondary to higher education. 🔺 𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝟯: In a globalized world of shared cultures and languages, there exists every reason to start a conversation. Grateful to have met/reconnected with new and known colleagues dedicated to international internships and the field of IE at large! Honoured to share my insights representing Virtual Internships on the morning plenary chaired by the effervescent Dr. Maureen Manning of The PIE entitled “Cultivating Global Professionals: Exploring Key Factors in Post-Graduate Employability” alongside Karima Ramji, Peter M. McGovern and Thomas Kelley - you were all great to share the stage with! 3.
