We are incredibly proud to be recognized for our hotel's outstanding sustainability contributions for Fairmont Hotels & Resorts This prestigious award recognizes our landmark achievement of becoming certified as a Zero Carbon Building in October 2023. Transforming our 95-year-old heritage building into a model of energy efficiency was no small feat. It required nearly five years of meticulous planning and the unwavering dedication of our exceptional team. Decarbonizing a historic structure and retrofitting our hotel's energy systems presented numerous challenges, but our team's perseverance and innovative spirit have proven that such a transformation is not only possible but can set a new standard for the hospitality industry. This project marks the largest heritage hotel retrofit of its kind within the Fairmont global brand portfolio and serves as a roadmap for similar properties, inspiring us all to strive for sustainability. Happy World Bee Day! Today, our Sustainability Committee organized educational sessions for our colleagues in collaboration with Pollinator Partnership. Our colleagues gathered together to recognize the importance of these powerhouse pollinators and learned more about the ways we can support our local bee population. Let's also shine a spotlight on our rooftop bees. Since its establishment in 2008, our rooftop apiary has been a pioneering home for honeybees on top of a city hotel. These hives are buzzing with 600,000 honeybees, providing a nurturing environment for pollinators crucial to crop health, floral beauty and biodiversity.
