Toronto based e-Zinc, announced they have raised an additional USD $31 million in new funding as they gear up for field demonstration projects of their unique zinc-air battery. Congrats to our portfolio companies, Ebb Carbon and Planetary, for being selected to compete in the last stage of XPRIZE Carbon Removal. The 20 finalists have demonstrated their potential to make contributions to a unique, novel #CDR effort that rebalances Earth’s carbon cycle by removing #CO2 directly from the atmosphere or the oceans and sequestering it durably and sustainably. XPRIZE Carbon Removal has challenged the final teams to remove 1,000 net tonnes of CO2 during the final year of the competition. A recent report by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Navajo Nation EPA shows that Disa Technologies, Inc. HPSA system is a viable solution to remove metals and radionuclides from waste at Abandoned Uranium Mines (AUM). Throughout the U.S. there are an estimated 15,000 AUM sites, many of which are on Tribal lands. Disa is engineering and constructing a full-scale commercial unit specifically to address this longstanding issue that will be easily deployable and available this summer. #remediation #uranium #navajonation #cleantech #AbandonedMines
