Syzygy uses light instead of combustion to produce hydrogen and sustainable fuels for a cleaner tomorrow.
About us
Syzygy Plasmonics is decarbonizing the chemical industry, responsible for almost 20 percent of industrial CO2 emissions, by using light instead of combustion to drive chemical reactions. Our Rigel reactor cells channel light into high-efficiency photocatalysts, delivering a lower-carbon, lower-cost solution for chemical producers. While many startups are bringing singular technologies to market, Syzygy's reactor cells are designed to support multiple reactions. Our reactors are currently available for CO2-to-eFuels projects, and for producing hydrogen from Ammonia e-Cracking or Combustion-Free Steam Methane Reforming. With additional reactions in development, Syzygy is on a path to make a broad section of chemical production sustainable. Our vision is to create a world where chemicals, fuels, and fertilizer are low-cost, carbon-neutral, and accessible to everyone. Our mission is to prevent a gigaton of CO2 from entering the atmosphere by 2040. Follow us to keep up with the latest on our journey toward a cleaner, more sustainable tomorrow!

We had a great time at the Hydrogen Technology Expo North America this week in Houston! Thanks to everyone who stopped by. We enjoyed the engaging discussions! We even had a mock display of our full-sized Rigel reactor! If you're in the Houston area, contact us to set up a tour to see the real reactor in action and hear more about how we're making #hydrogen and #fuel in clean ways. #Sustainability #Technology #LowCarbonFuture

Thanks to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and National Venture Capital Association for hosting this discussion on How Clean Technology Investors are Advancing the Energy Transition! See Ricky Sakai's insightful comments on three takeaways from the discussion. You can watch the full panel recording here: https://hubs.la/Q02C1LVx0
No single company can tackle the #energytransition alone. I recently moderated a National Venture Capital Association panel with experts from #cleantech investment firms and startups to learn their process of evaluating investments and partnering to drive #decarbonization. Here are three of my takeaways from our discussion: 1) There is no silver bullet to enable decarbonization across every industry. Instead, our approach should be “a silver buckshot.” Trevor Best hit the bullseye when he said that decarbonizing hard-to-abate industries requires many solutions deployed at scale. Matching the right technologies to the right applications is crucial. 2) To calculate return on investment (ROI), investors should evaluate two factors: financial returns and carbon impact. Stephanie Nitopi noted that it’s important to have a path to cost parity. By looking at how today’s investments result in long-term carbon emission reductions and stakeholder value, investors can justify the investment. 3) Investors are currently interested in drop-in solutions like #SAF and #CCUS which can decarbonize hard-to-abate sectors quickly. Thomas Englis made a great point that when new projects could cost billions of dollars, and the infrastructure can take years to build, driving down emissions within existing projects can be the most efficient option for immediate progress. But going back to the first point, all solutions are needed to reach #netzero. I want to thank all three panelists for their time and insights – it was a great discussion.
