  • Summer is hitting a high note at YEG! The Runway 12 Music Festival has officially started. Over the next two days, we’ll be hosting 40 live music performances at five stages around the airport. 🎵 YEG was the first airport in Canada to launch a permanent live music program in 2004. The program, known as YEG Stage, supports and celebrates the local music scene by giving talented performers the opportunity to play in a public space with a captivated audience. The festival is a new way to extend our music program and welcome our new and returning musicians for the 2024/25 season. We are also very excited to be one of the only airports in the world to host a music festival. Learn more at flyeia.com/runway-12. #flyyeg #yeg #yegmusic #yegmusician

  • Next time you’re waiting at YEG for a flight, be sure to visit The Trail, a unique Indigenous Interpretive and Retail Centre at Gate 62. The Trail is an interactive space featuring Indigenous artwork, architecture, history, culture and authentic Indigenous-made products available for purchase. Sit and relax on traditional circular seating arranged around the beautiful, handcrafted table showcasing traditional Inuit design. The cabinets surrounding the space are filled with Indigenous artwork and handmade goods on display. Be sure to open the numerous drawers beneath the cabinets and discover locally made Indigenous pieces. Everything in the display cabinets and drawers can be purchased by scanning the QR code next to them. The products can be shipped to your home or worldwide. • Today, YEG and Edmonton Global were pleased to bring together an extraordinary group of industry and government leaders at the Hydrogen at the Raceway event at RAD Torque Raceway. We enjoyed seeing guests behind the wheel of some of YEG’s Toyota Mirai hydrogen fuel cell cars, taking them for a test drive on the open racetrack located on airport land. As the largest airport by land size with over 7,000 acres in our care, YEG is using some of its vast space to develop the infrastructure required to accommodate hydrogen fuel technology and bridge the future to a net-zero aviation and transportation industry. Collaboration is the key to decarbonizing the transportation sector and working together with industry leaders and champions from across the entire hydrogen value chain drives us closer to a sustainable future. Thank you to all the partners who collaborated to make this a successful showcase of hydrogen technology on our roadways. • It's all about the journey, and we know a little something about that here at YEG! The Edmonton Oilers have taken fans on the trip of a lifetime this season. There was some turbulence along the way, but the team drew on that adversity, inspiring our city and beyond with non-stop, relentless determination and strength. YEG is proud of all your accomplishments. Game 6 is going to be epic! #LetsGoOilers #Believe

  • Indigenous History Month is a time to recognize the diverse and immense history and heritage of First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples across Turtle Island. YEG proudly recognizes National Indigenous History Month and National Indigenous Peoples Day today, June 21. This week, we engaged in a number of learning and sharing opportunities, including welcoming two Métis beaders into the airport to share their stories and teach passengers an important piece of culture and participating on an Edmonton Chamber of Commerce panel focused on advancing economic reconciliation. We are also promoting the great work of our partners at Indigenous Box Inc. by running a contest to win beautiful gift boxes filled with local Indigenous-made goods. Enter to win at flyeia.com/ihm. Contest closes June 30. #flyyeg #yeg #IndigenousHistoryMonth #IndigenousHistoryMonthCanada
