About us
Earthware’s sustainable initiative aims to unclog some of the waste caused by takeout/delivery containers (single-use plastic, styrofoam containers and even compostables) while simultaneously supporting the vital restaurant industry. The service is very user friendly - order takeout from your favorite participating restaurant, enjoy your meal, and then return your rinsed container to a bottle depot for $. The containers are washed, sterilized and redistributed to the restaurants strictly following Health Services guidelines.

Visited Subway the other day and as she was stuffing my already wrapped sandwich and paper napkins into a bag... Me: Oh I don't want a bag or napkins. Server: It's okay it's free now! Me: But I don't need a bag. Server: I've already used it so you might as well take it. The single-use item bylaw may have needed some tweaking to be more concise but it was moving us in the right direction. I am not perfect in my waste reduction efforts but the bylaw made businesses think, and made me think, about reducing needless single-use packaging. I can't believe they repealed it entirely.
