YAHOO!! 🤠🤠🤠 What an eventful Stampede week for Canadian Food Innovation Network! This week has been such an incredible chance to showcase Alberta’s agribusiness advantage globally. We kicked off the week last Thursday with the First Flip Pancake Breakfast hosted by Calgary Economic Development. On Sunday, we were invited to the Government of Alberta Stampede Reception, where business leaders, politicians, industry representatives, and guests from across Alberta celebrated the Calgary Stampede! Tuesday included lunch with Calgary Economic Development’s agrifood international delegation. I met with Innovopro to learn more about their operations in Israel and the US. I also met with Marius Almstedt from QAI Ventures from Switzerland, which has a new facility in Calgary and is looking to do exciting things in the food and beverage sector. CFIN partnered with Trade Commissioner Service | Service des délégués commerciaux for the inaugural Taste of Western event at the Calgary Stampede yesterday. The event focused on value-added food and beverages, supporting Canadian agrifood professionals. I met so many CFIN members showcasing their growth, including Susgrainable, GroundUp eco-ventures Ltd., Righteous Gelato, Piccola Cucina Inc., and cōchu chocolatier. Also gained great inspiration from Alberta Agriculture Minister RJ Sigurdson, Vice-Chair of the Calgary Stampede Cherie Copithorne-Barnes, and Government of Canada Senator Rob Black at the event. A big thanks to Evan Buie and Megan Colpitts for their efforts in bringing this incredible event to life! Also, what a grand 2024 Calgary Stampede Agriculture and Agri-Food Reception hosted by The Calgary Stampede! Met many old and new friends, collectively building the agrifood industry. As RJ Sigurdson, Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, said, “Agrifood is Alberta’s greatest opportunity to diversify and grow our economy.” This past week is a testament to that. To wrap it up, I'll be at Platform Calgary for their Tech Stampede Social tonight. If you want to know more about CFIN, what we do in foodtech and innovation, and YODL, our connector platform of over 5000 members for food companies—let's connect! We are thrilled to share the very first film produced on our brand new pilot line, funded by Canadian Food Innovation Network! This pilot line is an important part of our journey towards developing and commercializing our biopolymer film, and while there's still some fine-tuning to be done, we’re proud to announce that the line is now operational. A big thank you to our partner, CFIN, who has helped us reach this milestone! Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to perfect our process and deliver top-quality film.
