Every villain needs its story told.
I had the original 6894 as a kid; one of my all-time favorite sets, a lonesome renegade, trying to make it in a big dark universe. 35 years later, the ultimate LEGO anti-heroes return to capture the imagination of a new generation.

Bricklist notes
Corvette styling was substantially upgraded in 1961. Although enthusiasts at the time did not know it, they were being given a sneak peak of things to come. The rear would carry over to 1963, which would be a pivotal year in Corvette history. The exhaust now exited below the body and not via an opening in the bumper as in previous years. The four round tail lights was the start of a Corvette tradition that would continue for more than 50 years. The LEGO design was an exercise in making the car as sleek as possible, which necessitated a new approach to steering, mimicking the real car. Resident LEGO car expert Mike Psiaki was a great mentor through the process.

Notes
A limited number of these sets were given to hospitals across the world.
Bricklist notes
Hospitals are scary for kids! E. g. not laying still for 60min results in unusable scans. Children forget their fear of a device by playing with a LEGO model beforehand.
“...the prerequisite for a good result is that the child feels safe and knows what should happen....We clearly feel the joy of many children when they see the LEGO scanner."
H.C. Andersen Børne- og Ungehospital, Odense Hospital
The MRI set might be the one I am most proud to have designed, it is a perfect example of how the LEGO Group actually walks the walk. A set that saves hours of time of both staff and specialized machinery, while allowing better diagnostic results for children by guiding them through the process, is donated to MRI departments in hospitals worldwide.

Bricklist notes
Inspired by great concept work from Anderson Ward Grubb, the set builds on the stories of the last two modular buildings, the Boutique Hotel and the Police Station.

While it serves the hotels customers nicely, the Taxi service might be a cover for the Police Station Modular donut Thief’s nefarious dealings? While the driver is not the same character, there is definitely a family resemblance! There might be more afoot in the Modular city crime scene than meets the eye…

Even though the set is themed as an adult collector item, we recognize that it might be acquired as a gift by builders of different ages and skillsets. It is therefore build using building techniques which could be build by kids as young as 7+.

I was helping the Speed Champions transition to an 8-wide design, and what better way than by going down the childhood memory lane! The concept made it to the product by getting ever more love from the Speed Champions lead Chris stamp and Danish master Søren Gehlert Dyrhøj.

Re-imagined version of 10181-1
Bricklist notes
Just like how the original tower wasn’t designed by Gustave Eiffel, but initially conceived by three of his employees - the initial sketches and calculations of the proposed tower were made by office manager Emile Nouguier and engineer Maurice Koechlin in collaboration with architect Stephen Sauvestre; the initial LEGO concept model at this scale was designed by extremely talented LEGO designers, Nicolaas Vás and Joel Baker, with help from Alice Geiger. Nicolaas, Joel and Alice managed to find a perfect LEGO scale, that captured the tower in all its glory, but more importantly, helped convince all the relevant stakeholders that such a LEGO model would be incredibly attractive. After their clever work that laid the foundations, I was tasked to make the LEGO model feasible. My wish at the time was to execute the final model so that it would look just as good as the concept one.
With models of such size, stability is a big concern, model must be easily moved around without any pieces falling off. This is where the expertise of model coach Charlotte Neidhardt ensures that the LEGO set is meeting and fulfilling all our high LEGO design standards.
The biggest challenge of a set this size was to make it buildable, to translate the final model into a logical flow of building instructions. To create a way which would be both intuitive, yet still leave room for a surprising building techniques, to be easy enough to follow without mistakes yet still challenging enough to be engaging throughout the build. This is done with the close collaboration with building instruction specialist Peter Lønbæk
It became my goal, to marry a great LEGO execution with the design principles of the original tower. I tried to follow the structural principles of the original tower as closely as the LEGO System would allow. The load bearing trusses connected with LEGO clips, are placed just like on the original. The arches between the legs on the Eiffel tower are not load bearing, they are purely decorative – this is translated into the LEGO model as well, the arches connect from above to highlight that fact about the structure.

Singapore was the first tropical city I visited and has left a lasting impression, remaining one of my favorite places in the world. It is a composition of personal experiences of the city, lived and imagined.
Design started with a favorite view of the city; standing on Raffles' Landing Site, looking over the Singapore river to the charming old buildings with restaurants and pubs that line the waterfront in front of the newer, gleaming skyscrapers. The Central Business District is represented by two architectural masterpieces by two famous Asian Architects, Kenzo Tange’s One Raffles Place and I. M. Pei’s OCBC Centre.
One would cool down from the architectural sightseeing with an exotic ice kachang in the historic Lau Pa Sat, surrounded by bustling streets and nestled among the towering skyscrapers.
The Supertrees with their fusion of architecture and nature, art, and technology, together with an abundance of palm trees and small LEGO flowers, represent Singapore’s tropical vegetation.
I would imagine taking a swim in the world's longest elevated swimming pool at the Marina Bay Sands, appreciating the skyline from its infinity edge, then returning to the luxury and grandeur of the colonial Fullerton Hotel.
I tried to capture the Lion city’s mix of old and new and its enjoyable atmosphere with a dynamic placement of the buildings on an irregular base in the biggest LEGO Skyline to date.

The pyramids were high on the wanted list of Architecture sets since the start; with how to execute it without the model ending as too repetitive and monochromatic being the main challenge. By cutting the Pyramid in half, that enabled the execution of a spacious forefront for the Pyramid, as well as showcasing the intricate spaces within. Some artistic liberty brought together various places such as the worker’s village, upper and lower mortuary temples, connected by a causeway and of course, the river Nile. All of those set the context as it was during and immediately after the Pyramids construction. The microscale buildings and vegetation also enhance the monumentality of the Pyramid rising behind them. Layered plates of different colors add liveliness and depth to the river Nile.
Anderson Ward Grubb took it to a whole new level by adding the reveal, building the interior of the pyramid under construction and finalized the model.

Bricklist notes
In the model, I tried to capture the fascinating story of the Taj Mahal; It was commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan (reigned from 1628 to 1658) to house the tomb of his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal; A longstanding myth holds that Shah Jahan planned a mausoleum to be built in black marble as a Black Taj Mahal across the Yamuna river. Soon after the Taj Mahal's completion, Shah Jahan was deposed by his son Aurangzeb and put under house arrest at nearby Agra Fort. Upon Shah Jahan's death, Aurangzeb buried him in the mausoleum next to his wife. Shah Jahan's cenotaph is beside Mumtaz's to the western side and is the only visible asymmetric element in the entire complex. That is mirrored in LEGO bricks, the central chamber has two cenothaphs, the Shah’s is off center. Muslim tradition forbids elaborate decoration of graves. Hence, the bodies of Mumtaz and Shah Jahan were put in a relatively plain crypt beneath the inner chamber. When the central LEGO chamber is removed, it exposes the LEGO Crypt with the two tombs.
The Taj Mahal is a large, white marble structure standing on a square plinth and consists of a symmetrical building with an iwan (an arch-shaped doorway) crowned by a large marble dome. The LEGO dome is constructed using quarter spheres upside down. On the inside, the build of the LEGO dome alludes to Ashoka Chakra. This is a multi-spoke wheel in blue which is depicted in the center of the Indian flag. The so called onion dome rest on a cylindrical drum, in LEGO as well as in reality.
Each side of the iwan is framed with a huge pishtaq or vaulted archway with two similarly shaped arched balconies stacked on either side. This motif of stacked pishtaqs is replicated on the chamfered corner areas, making the design completely symmetrical on all sides of the building, faithfully replicated in LEGO.
The shape of the dome is emphasized by four smaller domed chattris (kiosks) placed at its corners, which replicate the onion shape of the main dome. In the LEGO model they are constructed using skeleton hands, which serve as columns.
all decorative spires (guldastas) extend from edges of base walls, and provide visual emphasis to the height of the dome. These are done in white LEGO minifigure ski-poles.
A golden LEGO minifigure Ski pole represents the Finial (Finial- a distinctive section or ornament at the apex of a roof, canopy, etc. on a building) of the dome of the Taj Mahal
The plinth is framed by four slender minarets, divided into three parts by working balconies that ring the tower. These balconies are done with LEGO gears.

The set is a tribute to one of the most iconic football stadiums. The club’s motto “Més que un Club” – or ‘more than a club’ in Catalan – is proudly displayed in the stands. The scoreboard references the club’s glorious 5-0 win against Real Madrid in 2010. On the south side is a parked microscale LEGO FC Barcelona team?bus. It’s blue, covered with stickers depicting the ‘Barça Barça Barça’ chant and the crest.

The model’s unique geometry provided a challenge. I had to reconcile the outer rhythm of the façade with the three-tier seating fitting together nicely. We’ve mimicked the shape of the real-life roof, which contains 26 supporting beams in steel, with 14 supporting beams made from LEGO Star Wars lightsaber blades and shafts.
From the moment I knew I was going to be working on this iconic structure, I delved into the world of FCB. I watched a number of documentaries on the club, I had the most iconic games playing in the background while sketching concepts. I got immersed with the energy that the club and its fans radiate, and it’s infectious.

The set depicts a scene on the upper part of La Rambla, near Plaça de Catalunya in Barcelona. It features Font de Canaletes, an ornate fountain, crowned by a lamp post. It is one of the symbols of the city, a meeting point for Barcelonans and foreigners and a space to celebrate the sporting victories of Catalan teams. The current fountain is made of iron, made in the 19th century and has four fountains. It is crowned by a four-light lantern. The reason that it is the meeting place comes from the fact that, in the 30s, to know the results of the Catalan teams, football fans went to the editorial office of the newspaper La Rambla to read the results, which were put in a blackboard in front of the fountain.

Bricklist notes
I knew I would be designing the Colosseum eventually! I set the scale of the model to the original façade. I felt that the LEGO model should convey a special architectural feature of the original – the rows of columns in different styles, flanking the arches. I went on building just the outer wall of the Colosseum, and that is how it was presented at our internal selection event; two freestanding curved walls on a board. Its scale has remained completely unchanged since. But it managed to capture the imagination, and the model was greenlighted to the second stage selection process. At this point, the model changed hands for a while; our master designer Mike Psiaki built the 2nd concept model and played a crucial part in devising the connection principle using ball cups. His model on a hexagonal baseplate made it through another selection funnel, `after it was again entrusted to me for finalization.
Together with Charlotte Neidhardt we started on a challenge of making such a model buildable from the instructions, where our Building Instruction experience specialist Martin Højen Holm Buk always fund an elegant solution to even the trickiest assemblies and co-created the journey of the building experience. But the work isn’t over when we have the completed model; we began elevating the overall experience together with Petur Ellefsen, Art Director with a passion for beauty and style. There is a lot of complexity involved in various processes across the organization, you can imagine that a lot of my colleagues had to work extra hard – from creating a monster bill of material to solving the record number of bags in packaging.

Re-released version of 21031-1
Bricklist notes
Re-released version of 21031. As an aspiring young architect, one often dreams about designing the tallest building in the world. Technically the dreams came true, although it is my fault I didn't specify the scale as well. I guess LEGO bricks will have to do.

the city is renowned for more than just its individual icons, but rather iconic and unique vistas. It’s the hills with the step roads, the rough waters of the golden gate strait, rows of Victorian Houses, trams, dense downtown area, green hills sticking out of the city fabric, contrast between the new and the old.

Bricklist notes
The set that broke the record for the most elements of a single type and color, the 1x2 grille plate! Despite the look of it, it is far from being a repetitive build; the whole building is designed in overlapping chunks that provide an extreme level of sturdiness; the model can be picked up with one hand only at the top. The interior is built with LEGO tiles in between plates to mimic the riveted steel construction of the original.

Bricklist notes
Trafalgar Square was envisioned in this form as a concept model way back in 2014, to support the Louvre and the Trevi Fountain as the "city square with a building backdrop" concept.
Steen Sig Anderseen carried the model all the way to the end, finding ingenious ways to make the concept model comply to our strict guidelines, without loosing any of the detail, in fact even adding to it to make it one of the most intricate models to date.

Bricklist notes
I had a version of Shanghai build for more than two years and was looking forward for the first Asian Skyline to make its debut! The Shanghai Tower proved to be a challenge from both design as well as product safety perspectives. But the end result delivers an unprecedented level of detail as well as a LEGO first - dozens of elements which aren't connected to one another but rather held suspended in place. Take notice of the smaller buildings as well; the Radisson Blu Hotel is deceptively complex, its core is built both upside down and up, the façade is built four-way sideways – LEGO elements are facing all six directions!
