    2-in-1: Displayable and Playable!

Written by (KFOL) in United Kingdom,

I want to save the best for last, so I'll talk about my only complaint for a start.

Building the start was extremely stressful. I kept snapping one piece and then another kept snapping off, so on, so forth. The rest was okay, but it wasn't that interesting to build.

The pieces you get in the set are good, and even though this set has stickers, yet they don't bother me too much (but I'd still prefer printed parts). They include some details for the ship and scratches, but the main sticker I'd like to discuss is the Gamorrean guard that is frozen in carbonite. This can be accessed by a shaft that opens up at the bottom of the ship. (comes with a brick separator)

Gamorrean Guard (left) Boba Fett minifig (right)

The Gamorrean Guard (left) Boba Fett (right)

(A tip: I like to use a brick separator to help me place my stickers) The wings on the side spin according to which angle the starship is facing.

A cockpit is included for Boba, but doesn't spin along with the wings like it would in other sets. The rangefinder is usually pushed off by the cockpit due to the cockpit's small size.

It is pretty good for the money spent. The price per piece is quite good, but the design makes it even more worth it, due to it being displayable and playable.

It has a handle at the back which lets you hold it with your finger, and although unsightly, this is an addition that I don't mind due to the useful function that it provides. It shoots studs via two hidden cannons, and you also get 4 spare ammo for it but it is quite easy to lose due to the size of the ammo. It has two cannons as well that are adjustable but they fall off often. There is also a display stand (shown below).

    LEGO 75312 Boba Fett's Starship ...

The stand does not interlock and relies on a 2x2 plate to hold it up.

The minifigs are quite cool, including

    Boba Fett

He has a helmet with a rangefinder, and some spare ones as well. The armor is nice and repainted as it is in the show but I don't think the colours are accurate. He comes with a two-piece blaster as well. He also has a jetpack to put under his neck

? Review: LEGO Star Wars 75344 Boba ... Boba (no helmet)

    Mando

He does not have a rangefinder on his helmet, accurate to the series (I wonder why he doesn't have one but many other Mandalorians do?) I wish the helmet's colour was more shiny and metallic like it is on the torso and legs. He comes with a simple grey cape, which is a nice addition, they didn't include Grogu though :( He has a black head piece even though his face has already been revealed, but this isn't very important as he rarely takes it off and most people play with the helmet on. Also comes with a beskar staff and blaster.

    Size does not matter

Written by (AFOL , bronze-rated reviewer) in Greece,

75312 Boba Fett's Starship (we do not call it Slave-1 anymore!) is between 75243 (20th Anniversary Edition, also owned) and the one from 75222 (Betrayal at Cloud City, a beloved set of mine). It achieves an unusual (for Lego) balance between scale and detail, as other reviewers noticed. It has definitely exceeded my expectations: it is attractive and the figures are impressive. Boba Fett undoubtedly stands out because of its printed arms (first time appearance here, although now in other sets too). The current price (EUR50), although it seems expensive due to its mid-size, is justified due to its quality and the figures included, It's worth both as a toy and as a collection; I ended up offering it to my older son.

Great for both play and display

Written by (TFOL , silver-rated reviewer) in Romania,

I bought this set on release, since I previously only owned the mini Slave I that came with 75222 Betrayal at Cloud City. I was expecting a similar ship in size and level of detail, however my expectations were greatly surpassed.

    Play value

This set is packed with play features. Two unobtrusive stud shooters are integrated into the hull. They are easy to access and function very well, as always. The black cannons in the front can rotate independently. The cockpit can comfortably fit one minifigure and the wings on the side lean with gravity. The model features the infamous cargo hold, where you can store a Gamorrean frozen in carbonite, included in the set. On the back of the ship, there is a Technic handle that can be folded into the hull. Upon folding it out, the ship can be held by it and thus it is very easy to fly it around. The speeder side build is a fun addition, however its main purpose is aesthetic (more on that later). The inclusion of two minifigures is welcome, and it allows for endless role-play scenarios.

    Display value

As stated in the title of this review, this set doubles as a play and display piece. It is a far more affordable and compact version when compared to previous renditions of the Slave I, however it achieves comparable level of detail and arguably superior accuracy. I feel like this set features better proportions. Also, its shaping very closely matches what is seen on screen. The dark red base features intricate angular bricks that perfectly capture the shape. As this Slave I is inspired by its look in The Mandalorian show, some silver stickers and light bluish grey pieces represent the effect of painting having scraped off over time, with surprising accuracy. Attention to detail, proportions, correct shaping and colour placement are all strong in this model. Moreover, the speeder included in the set doubles as a display stand, so the ship can be posed in a flying position without using extra pieces.

    Minifigures

Two rather special minifigures are included in this set. While the Mandalorian has been seen before, I appreciate this minifigure for its great amount of detailing. This design features arm printing and silver decorations all around, aside from the helmet, unfortunately. Boba Fett, as seen in the Mandalorian show, is the star of the set, though. He comes with arm printing as well. The decorations on his torso and legs flow smoothly and fit together. His clean armour and black garment make for an unique colour combination. Also, the head printing was a pleasant surprise, especially since the skin tone matches the one introduced with 75280 501st Legion Clone Troopers. If you count the carbonite block as a figure, then it must be noted that its design, while using a sticker, reflects the original Han Solo in carbonite: SW0984, so that is a nice tribute.

    Overall

This set is better than one might expect. While the minifigures included are amazing and certainly a highlight, the build must not be ignored. There is almost nothing more I could have asked for from a ship of this size, especially considering the fact that it can be displayed in a flying position. The only thing that could have been added would have been the ability to deploy a seismic charge, since this type of bomb has made a reappearance in The Mandalorian. But, all in all, this ship is packed with play features and details alike, so it is a great set suitable for all kinds of LEGO Star Wars fans.

    Slave 1: Small but Packed

Written by (AFOL) in United States,

Let me start by saying that this set may not want to be the one you would use in a MOC unless you're purposely going for a scaled down MOC. There are much better Slave 1's money can buy however this one is special. While much smaller than other play scale versions (I'll come back to this later) it does make up for it by including numerous play features and a very unique way to display it

This Slave 1 clocks in at $50 US with 593 pieces which is a fair price per piece ratio. Most of these pieces are small but come up big for detailing. The set comes with 2 minifigs. One being the beautiful Beskar Mando, who is starting to pop up in more sets although mine has a down printed helmet which I’ve heard others mention. And the other minifig is probably the reason you're picking this set up: The amazingly detailed newer Boba Fett. This version of Boba is based off his armor shown in episodes 15 and 16 of the Mandalorian, with the fresh paint job and free of all scars and scrapes to it. I have seen some people complain that the color of his helmet and jetpack are inaccurate, using the normal sand green instead of the newer dark green on his torso, but I can look past that. Perhaps the biggest draw to him is that arm printing. Lego has never made a more eye popping, attention grabbing incentive on a Boba minifig before (unless you're referring to the 2003 Cloud City Boba). Seriously this is the most incredible arm printing I've ever seen on a minifigure before. Between all the details of his wrist rocket, flamethrower and the lovely contrast between his yellow shoulder plates and black cape really make this pop out. He kinda reminds me of a hornet with this contrast of colors.

Now onto the actual set: This ship is based off the Slave 1 included in the 2018 Betrayal at Cloud City set while also basing itself off of the 2019 20th anniversary edition. It's the same size as the 2018 version but comes packed with the details and carrying handle from the 2019 version. They continue to use that reddish brown color for the base of the ship which is fine, it gives it its accuracy. I don't think these parts will break over time like the older ones. The cockpit of the ship is small and tight but enough space to add 1 minifigure. Unfortunately the seat does not rotate with the wings like previous versions have included. Speaking of the wings, while they're small and stubby, they look really good for their size. The attention to detail is there and as mentioned before, they rotate with the ship from going from landed mode to flight mode and vice versa. The overall build is a very strong and well contented build so you don't have to worry about parts breaking off, it can take some abuse thanks to the technic parts inside. The technic parts also incorporate into a well designed and well hidden carrying handle like we saw in 2019 which was met with universal praise. The cargo hold of the ship can open with ease and has enough space to hold a Carbonite brick inside. Included is a Gamorrean guard who is frozen in Carbonite on a 2×5 brick with a sticker on it, much like the older Han Solo bricks which were also the same size. The brick can easily be placed in the cargo hold and will fit in there nice and snug. The cannons on the front of the ship are weak connections and can break quite easily so before be careful when picking this up. 2 stud shooters are included up near the cockpit. Those are self explanatory but I've seen worse stud shooters and can easily be modded out if one desires.

Lastly included is a small maintenance cart that can hold 1 figure and even the Carbonite brick. However this cart can also serve as a display stand! The Slave 1 will easily fit on the cart and will be supported just fine via the foldable ladder on the cart. Or it can function as a regular ladder for play when the ship is in landed position.

Overall this is a very solid set. The 2 figs are excellent although I wish they included a 3rd fig, preferably Mayfield. The newer Slave 1 is a lot smaller than previous versions but will still get the job done with lots of good features. The maintenance cart/display stand is also a plus. I'd definitely recommend this set to any kind of Lego Star Wars fan. 9/10

    75312-1: Boba Fett's Starship

Written by (AFOL) in United States,

Regardless of the name change,I'm still going to call it Slave I. This was a set that I was excited for when I heard about it. I wanted Slave I for a while now, but I missed the pass ones, plus they were expensive. So when this came, I had to get it (though at a later time). Building experience was okay, had trouble with the long bottom part of the ship where the guns are at because some parts together were very easy to fall apart, along with it being in a small, odd space. It has some neat looking parts, but they did a good job downsizing it. For figures, Mando isn't special but a great figure, he also has his beskar spear which is neat. I really like the Boba Fett. The arm printing is very sleek and looks nice. Really love his head, and the new tan skin tone makes it a thousand times better. Now I know people weren't happy with the helmet and jetpack being sand green instead of dark green like the torso, but I honestly don't care for it, I'm just happy we got the Mando version of Boba. Very playable! There is a hook you can hold, making it very versatile to move the ship around. There are also stud shooters, the wings move a bit and the guns at the bottom are adjustable. The little vehicle thing does help for display, but I enjoy having ship facing up like how it looks landing. There's also a little storage area that can hold the carbonite brick, and the design of the sticker is neat. However, I kinda wish they made a little dispenser for seismic charges, that would have been cool. But overall I'd say it's definitely worth the $50. I know it's not the best Slave I we have and some may not like due to being inferior to the UCS version, but I really like it. Definitely recommend if you missed out on the previous versions. Hopefully we'll get one of Jango Fett soon.
