    Great for playing with

Written by (TFOL) in United States,

At 9.6 cents per piece, this is a fair price. Plus, I got it on sale for 15 bucks, which gives me 7 cents per piece.

The set itself is overall good, and it's really great in the playability department. You can shift the landscape around in 3 or 4 ways and there are sliding platforms which you can use to have a "duel" with Anakin and Obi-Wan.

I wouldn't use it for spare parts unless you need a bunch of reds and oranges. No need to buy more than one of these, it's not like you'll build an army of anything with it. Overall great buying choice, especially if you don't want to spend too much.

Good price, Good playability, Epic parts, But slim on the building expirience

Written by (KFOL) in United States,

The Duel on Mustafar set 75269 was a good set, except for a slightly measly building experience.

    Building experience

    1. The instruction's last step was confusing and was hard to follow.

    2. Some parts took more time to attack than others

    Parts

    1. There are many mechanisms for a set this small.

    2. The minifigures are pretty epic

    Playability

    1. Mechanisms are very fun to use in this set

    2. The set is so detailed that it feels like it just copied the film.

    Value

    1. This is a popular moment from Star Wars, how did you price it so low?

    2. Did you realise that all the minifigures in this set are main characters?

This set is mainly a cool set in my opinion, expect for the fact that the buildings are slightly confusing and difficult to attach in some steps. Otherwise, it is a cheap and great set!

    Awesome and long overdue

Written by (TFOL) in United States,

This set is awesome for its value and a major upgrade to the 2005 set Ultimate lightsaber duel 7257. The scenery is smaller than I would've liked but is beautiful. The build is easy and satisfying but the best part of the set is obviously the minifigures. Episode 3 Obi Wan and Anakin? No way. Two awesome, updated, and desirable minifigures for $20!

The playfeature to make the minifigures fight is also great and a huge upgrade over the clunky mechanism on the 2005 version.

    A set for minifigures

Written by (TFOL , silver-rated reviewer) in Romania,

The duel on Mustafar is a crucial moment in the Star Wars universe and the climax of Revenge of the Sith. As a result, one would expect a complex feature-packed playlet depicting the dramatic scenes of the fight. Unfortunately, this set does not manage to meet those expectations.

    Play value

The main feature of this set is the ability to place Anakin and Obi-Wan on two platforms that are able to swing and rotate, vaguely managing to recreate a lightsaber duel. A few studs representing lava can be shot onto the characters, and the heavily downscaled pillar is able to swing into a vertical position. The set if formed of two sections connected via a hinge, so its footprint can be altered. This allows the platforms' ranges of motion to change as well. However, I have encountered problems when it comes to locking the hinge into place due to the rough clip connection.

    Display value

Surprisingly, the set is appropriate for display. It accurately recreates a Mustafar diorama, even though the construction of the lava baseplate feels random, both colour and part-wise. The platforms are accurate, but appear blocky and undersized, and I believe the 2012 designs from set 9494 to be superior. The small size of the set allows it to easily be displayed on a desk or shelf and, even though the construction is quite messy, the final product is not tiring to look at.

    Minifigures

At last, the highlight of the set. A new Episode III Anakin was long overdue, and this version appears satisfying. The torso and leg printing are far more accurate than previous renditions, however the burn and dirt marks greatly limit the use possibility for both minifigures. Changing the hair colour from dark brown to regular reddish brown was a change for the better, although it should still be slightly lighter. I do not believe Obi-Wan was in need of an update, but this version is not inferior to its predecessor. The same thing cannot be said about Anakin's face prints. His semi-netural expression is fine, however the lack of dark contours below the eyes, first introduced with SW0361 is disappointing. Disappointment only increases around the back: The new Sith face appears comical and unfortunately very cartoony. This expression is meant to be threatening and terrifying. Both of these features are perfectly captured by the 2012 version (SW0361).

    Overall

Unfortunately, this set only manages to be a great deal for minifigures. For its size, complexity and part number, the build is satisfying, however one cannot help but imagine how amazing a larger Duel on Mustafar could have been. A scene of such importance deserves greater attention to detail. Also, the "cartooniness" of Anakin's Sith expression, as well as the burn marks on the torsos take away from the figures (Especially since there are no alternative versions of said torsos available).

Lacking in build , better in content.

Written by (AFOL) in United Kingdom,

    INTRO

This set depicts part of the fight sequence at the end of episode 3 of Star Wars, and is immediately recognisable as such. The focus is less on high-detail display-ability, instead focusing on making a good toy.

    FIGURES

The 2 figures here are very well produced, with detailed prints showing magma damage consistent with the source material. Metallic gold and silver is also present, and that lines up really crisply. For this set, these are perfect figures as the bit of the fight depicted has got the characters accumulating damage.

    BUILD

To focus on play experience, the terrain can fold into a long and short from, allowing for the figures to be placed on the moving platforms, which feature solidly connected but easily rotated heads. These are placed onto rails, allowing for both rotate and transform options. When in long form, a chase can be depicted, with the platforms able to slide back and forth from each other. When in short, it brings them side by side and allows for rotating-platform based sword fighting.

The terrain is made up of high-contrast colours, with the lava river being primarily red with some smaller yellow and trans. Orange highlights. “Solid” terrain is black, and features more transparent elements including fire elements. There is also a large mechanical arm which can pivot up and down, into the lava flow, also mirroring a shot from the film. The terrain area has many open studs, allowing for posing figures pretty much anywhere

    CRITICISMS

The connecting elements for the rail under the platforms in black, making it easier to find the part when building but making the mechanics of the set more obvious. This part , sliding piece 1x4, has been made in before and would blend in more easily.

The build is very simple, to the point of feeling like an advanced 4+ set, with most of it being vertical construction. From a building enjoyment perspective, it is lacking, but for the purpose of the set to be more play-orientated, it produces a structurally strong assembly.

    SUMMARY

For the size and cost, this set produces an OK build experience, with a decent display model and very good playability. I don't think that this set is aimed at my demographic, but even still it is a good, if a bit basic, display piece, giving some nice bright colours and pose ability to otherwise more static displays. As a toy is excels, but as a LEGO model, it lacks a little bit.
