    An excellent little set

    Written by (TFOL) in Canada,

Jay's Mech Battle Pack is a 2024 Ninjago set that costs $13.99 CAD

    Minifigures:

This set includes 4 figures, which is an amazing deal for a set this small! The first of these figures is a Wolf Mask warrior, a member of the Wolf Mask army facing off against the ninja. This is a very good figure, with a new mask mould, which looks great with the light blue eyes and mouth contrasting with the dark blue mask, which has prominent ears and nice "fur" detailing. The warrior also has some cool looking shoulder pads above a nicely printed torso and legs, and the face print underneath the mask is very cool, showing a face with armour around it, and covering their mouth. The head is even double-sided, now showing the same face, but with blue energy emanating from the mouth armour and the warrior's eyes. The warrior is equipped with menacing claws.

The next included figure is a Wolf Mask guard, another member of the wolf mask army. This figure is the same as the warrior, but they lack shoulder pads and have a hood instead of a mask, which means you can see the cool face print on this variant. The torso, which is shared with the warrior, has printing on the front depicting several small knives stored in their robes, and Ninjargon (Ninjago language) text translating to "wolf" below the knives. The back printing features a stylised wolf symbol patch, which is light blue and purple, stitched into their robes. The legs feature some armour, and a small chain with wolf teeth charms on it. The guard wields a crossbow.

Jay, the lightning ninja, who has disappeared after an event known as the merge which occurred last season, is the third figure in this set. He is dressed in mech armour robes. This armour is very nice, with golden highlights outlining the armour, and blue robes underneath, the armour continues on to his legs, where a bright yellow belt is also found. Ninjargon text on his back translates to his name, and his initial can be found on the right side of his chest. His head is the same as the previous wave, with a determined expression on one side and a powered up face with a small smile on the other, which looks very nice. Jay wields two katanas.

Finally, Lloyd, the legendary green ninja, is included in his new master robes. This outfit looks excellent, and I hope it appears in the show. He has a light green bandanna hair combo piece, which has been used to represent his hair since the part was introduced in 2021, despite the fact that the show accurate hairpiece is still around. His double sided head features a broad grin on one side, and an angry expression on the other. His torso is beautiful, with a gold chain ending in two dragon head symbols secured to his robes near his shoulders, and tags featuring his initial hanging from each side. Robes reminiscent of Master Wu's tan ones are seen below the outer robes, which have a lovely dark green and gold dragon scale pattern going down a strip on each side, and an impressive dark green dragon head symbol on his back, glowing with golden energy. The beautiful dragon scale pattern continues onto his legs, beneath a bright green belt. Some dark orange wraps cover the figures knees. Lloyd wields his sword, which includes a tassel on the end of its hilt as always.

    The Build:

The build of this set is a small mech for Jay, which is rather fun. The mech uses a standard small mech chest piece, seen frequently in the Marvel mechs, attached to a relatively new mech torso part, which has 4 studs at it's bottom to allow minifigures to sit down in the mech. A printed 2x2 circle tile is attached to the front of the chest, showing a golden dragon head and some additional mechanical detailing. In the show, this symbol is used to show that a mech is an "elemental mech" and can be compressed down into a small backpack like thing, however this vehicle does not appear in the show. Two clips are located on the mech's back for storing Jay's katanas when he pilots the mech. When the katanas are attached they resemble antennas, which is a very cute inclusion. A technic pin connects a small hip structure to the torso, and two legs attach there. The mech has some nice shoulder armour in the form of two new warm gold pieces. One of the two arms has some clips at it's end to wield a spear like weapon, and the other has two stud shooters at its end.

    Conclusion:

At $14 this is a perfect set, it has 4 great figures, and a fun mech to play with, I have no complaints! If you're a Ninjago fan, or are shopping for one, this is the perfect set to get.

    Simply Great

    Written by (TFOL) in Argentina,

A very cheap set, it has 4 minifigures which is a lot for this price, also I really love the mech, this is a great set for collectors who prefer minifigures instead of big buildings, but its also a good set for set collectors, its one of the best Ninjago sets out there for its quality-price ratio.

    An Absolute Win

Written by (AFOL) in United States,

    The Build:

The build experience here is straightforward and surprise-free, as is typical for a set this small. The finished mech is a good toy. It's pose-able, more so than most of the current Marvel and Star Wars character mechs, and you can get Jay to swing his spear just about any way you'd want. The proportions are a little funny, but the weapon is nicely built, the shoulder armor gives decent coverage without being too bulky, and the use of katana antennae is clever, looks good, and is fun to say!

    Parts:

If you wanna build a mech MOC, or you need 5 1x2 rounded plates in cool yellow, this set has you covered. The printed not-an-Arc reactor is also quite nice.

    Figures:

This is, I suspect, the main draw for older fans; it certainly was for me. Four figures are included, all with printed legs, double-sided heads, and some eye-catching metallic printing, and three include dual-molded headgear.

    • Jay looks great in this season's new costume; the light-on-dark printing of his sash isn't 100% opaque, but it's passable. The highlights for his eyes on his dark mask print are wonderfully bright.
    • The two wolf clan baddies have identical heads, torsos, and legs, but their accessories differentiate them well enough. The color scheme is suitably menacing, as is the excellent wolf mask. The yellow face printing on dark blue isn't perfect, but seems better than years past.
    • Master Lloyd is the highlight of the set, and exclusive. The bright and dark green, dark orange and gold on white is a well-balanced and regal-looking color palette, and really sells Lloyd as being a step above without the use of a big gaudy piece of armor.

    Value:

Do I even have to tell you that this is a good deal at $10? Jay and his mech alone are just shy of the Nexo Knights battle suits, which ran for $10 in 2017. Add in 3 more minifigs and I have no complaints about the price, which is rare in 2024.

    Hope this helps!

A new style of set for the theme

Written by (TFOL , bronze-rated reviewer) in United Kingdom,

This is a more unusual set for Ninjago as it is presented as a battle pack, common in the Star Wars theme. Ninjago has had blister accessory packs before this one, but this is the first boxed one. It is an excellent deal for the price, with 4 minifigures in addition to a reasonable mech.

The mech is a fun little build, with lots of articulation that allows for a variety of poses due to the light weight. It has a large blade and stud shooters, which are helpful for play scenarios. It, like the larger mechs of this wave, has waist articulation, which is some nice continuity. The swords make some cute antennae when attached to the back.

The key draw here are the 4 minifigures. All are nicely detailed, with the ninja currently being exclusive, and the wolf warriors being good generic villains. The wolf mask/hood is very well sculpted, complimenting the prints on the rest of the minifigure.

Overall, I would recommend this set as a low price, high value set.
