    Catamaran

    Written by (AFOL) in Canada,

I remember getting this set for my 10th birthday when it came out. I loved it instantly. Great parts, fun build, and awesome minifigures (I'll delve in to those later). And it had 2 vehicles, so playability skyrockets.

    Parts

The catamaran has some pretty standard parts, some in different colours than usual, but I believe most of the pieces for the catamaran I previously had. I do believe; however, that this was the first set of mine to have a spring loaded missile.

The swamp speeder had pretty basic pieces too, but it had a few printed pieces that aren't available in any other set.

    Minifigures

Six minifigures in a $50 set. Wow! And one of them is a light up Jedi! The minifigs in this set are really the golden point. Two wookies, Chewbacca and a Wookie warrior. Two Jedi, Yoda and Luminara. And two swamp clones, in phase 2 armour with a green pattern.
    I'll start on the wookies:
?I don't think there was anything new about the Chewbacca minifig, but the Wookie warrior was a new mold I believe. Not for this set, but for the Episode 3 line of sets. There were 2 or 3 with this Wookie warrior I think. Chewbacca is cool because I could use him in both this set, and in original trilogy sets. The Wookie warrior is just a cool new minifigure. Nothing necessarily special about it, just cool looking.
    Now, on to the Jedi:
Two Jedi, Yoda and Luminara. Awesome. Yoda has the standard short legs used for things like kid Boba Fett, and Ewoks (Yoda's are tan to match his robes). This was about 9 years ago so I don;t remember for sure, but I think Yoda had a green lightsaber. I know he had a brown walking stick, but this is before his battle with Palpatine, so he should have his lightsaber.
Luminara was a light up Jedi with a green lightsaber. At the time, I thought light up Jedi were awesome. Now I'm wishing it hadn't been. The arm just looks clunky, and the battery is dead now, so it doesn't even work anymore. Other than the light up bit, she is a cool minifigure, with a sweet new headpiece.
    Next, the clones:
Ah, the clones. The guys are probably in my top ten favorite minifigure list. To most, they just see a phase 2 clone with a green pattern. And, for the most part, they are right. And I see that too. But I used them both so much over the years, they just became my favorite. And plus, I'm pretty sure this was the only set they were in, so that makes them all the more rare. They had the standard (for the time) megaphone blaster, with a blue stud on the end, rather than the usual orange or red. Overall, two of my favorite minifigures.

    Playability

Awesome playability. You can have it take place after order 66, and have the clones and wookies fighting, or you can set it up against some droids and stage a clone/wookie joint battle against some clankers. Either way, great playability in this set.

    Overall opinion

When I was 10, I would have rated it a 9/10, after writing this review, and thinking about everything it had, I would definitely give it a 10/10. If you can find it somewhere for a good price. Buy it. You won't be dissapointed.

    nostalgia trippin'

    Written by (AFOL) in Canada,

This was one of my very first ever lego sets. I was 4 when it was released, and I think i got it for my 5th birthday. At a whopping 90 pieces this set took my dad and I the better part of an afternoon to build. Or maybe it was only 20 minutes, I was so young that my dad wouldn't let me build it myself, so he built it "with" me (He tried to build it while I took pieces and build random things). I remember bringing it in to the bath with me every single time. I'd make little scenes with a minifigure drowning in the ocean and the police are trying to save him. Playing god is fun no matter what age.

Besides nostalgia reasons, the set actually has some pretty unique pieces, like the green tinted windshields, the lifesavers, and the life jackets. The piece count here doesn't show every piece that the set comes with, but I believe it also comes with a yellow camera, although I could just have that from a different set.

I wouldn't recommend going out and spending money on it on an ebay bid or anything, unless you maybe had it, got rid of it, and are now regretting it, or it was a set you really wanted at the time, and you can buy now. There are a lot better sets out there right now. The only cool thing is some of the elements, and the fact it floats. I like it because of nostalgic reasons, but if you never had the set, theres no reason you should feel nostalgia about it.

    Kashyyyk Troopers

    Written by (AFOL) in Canada,

Review for the battle pack Kashyyyk Troopers, set 75035.

    Box/Instructions

The box is nice, it has some neat art showing off the swamp speeder, all 4 clones (The 41st elite troopers, and the Kashyyyk troopers) one of which is sort of wandering around without his new blaster. It has an image of Darth Vader in the upper right hand corner, replacing Yoda from last year. Very nice, and appealing box.
The instructions are like any other instruction booklet. The front is a copy image of the box cover, and we have the overly excited WIN! kid on the back. We have right away that warning, telling us not to shoot the new blasters at your eye, and how to put a minifig together. Then we get in to the actual instructions. 26 pages, and about 19 major steps. Everything is pretty simple, no complicated building processes.

    Parts

The only new parts, from what I can tell, are the blasters and the 41st elite corp trooper helmet. I'll get in to the new body parts later. The blasters, from what I can tell, are only going to be sold in battle packs, which isn't as bad as I first thought. Lego definitely got it right with the 2nd wave of blasters, and these just look bad. It's kind of cool how they actually fire, and how they sort of resemble the old megaphone blasters, but I still think they're stupid. Like flick-fire missiles. Kids will think it's great, but AFOL won't.

    Minifigures

Now to the hole reason anyone buys this set. The minifigures. They are awesome. Brand new skins on them. Different for the 41st and the regular troopers. The 41st helmets are similar, but not exactly the same as the ARF trooper from 2012. The ARF troopers helmet was more pointed, and these are more flat on the top. Also the positioning of the eye's looks a little high, but that doesn't matter to me. The troopers are the selling point of this set. The only downside is that all the clones have the exact same face.

    The build

Not as satisfying as other sets, but that wasn't the reason for picking this one up. This one, for me, is strictly an army builder. The build is pretty simple. Nothing complicated at all.

    The completed model

It's a cool smaller version of 8091: Republic Swamp Speeder. The clones sit nicely in it, and you can attach the blasters to the front.

    Overall opinion

It's a very good army builder set, and the swamp speeder is alright. A cool thing you can do is, if you have Commander Gree from the AT-AP, and a yoda (from anything) you can take a 41st clone and re-create the order 66 scene from Ep.III, where Yoda cuts off Gree and a 41st clone's heads.
Great army builder, 9/10. I would give it 10/10, but I can't stand the blasters.

    Rig Racers

    Written by (AFOL) in Canada,

It was one of my first Lego sets. I believe it was a birthday present, so I can't comment on the price, but it was very fun to play with, and when I think about old lego sets I have, this one and the "Y-Wing and Tie Fighter" set are at the top of the list.

    Parts

It has some pretty cool parts in it, like the exhaust on the blue truck, and all the tools it comes with. It also had the blue car jack, which I thought (and still think) is awesome. Quite a few pieces have the octan logo on them which is cool as well.

    Minifigures

Three minifigures, a blue driver, red driver, and a flag guy. The drivers have octan logos on their torsos, and the flag guy has a white vest, with blue sleeves.

    The build

Don't remember much about the build, I think I was 4 at the time.

    The completed model

It looks cool, and is very playable.

    Overall

I still use the set (or parts of it) today in my city. The trucks have been converted in to regular pickups, and the tools and car jack are now part of my garage. Very cool and fun set.
