A cosy little house with adorable characters and endless customisation

    Written by (AFOL) in Hungary,

    Building experience:

There are 3 flowers surrounding the house, but you get an extra from the small pieces, so you can create another flower if you wish, and getting an extra bell and fossil is also nice. And there are no stickers in the set; everything is printed.

    Playability:

It was fun to find a configuration I was satisfied with.)

The characters have bendable legs, so you can make them sit next to the table.

The tree has a compartment where you can hide the bells that come with the set. Maybe it is not accurate to the game that the tree has both fruits and bells inside, but if it bothers you, you can remove the apples and make the tree face the other side, or if you have similar coloured bricks, you can swap them out for normal bricks without holes.

You can rearrange the configuration of the garden surrounding the house, which is also nice and resembles the game well.

The switching out of the windows is the least interesting play feature, and it bothers me that the door is red but the replacement windows are blue. I would prefer they match.

Everything has a place, but the book was just placed on the bed. It was a little bit bothersome to me that there was nowhere else to put it, just on the bed or on the chair.

There is even more playability, but as an adult, I am not into pretending to dig out a fossil with a shovel, chop down trees, or check the phone for updates like you would in the game. The net is missing from the workbench.

    Value for money:

You get 2 new minifigs with large, dual-molded heads. I think, compared to the other Animal Crossing sets, this provides the most play value if you like doll-house-type sets, and IMHO, Isabelle is the cutest character; she is worth every penny.

I am not a hardcore Animal Crossing fan or gamer, but I really like this cosy little house with these adorable characters.

I think it is very customisable beyond the suggested ideas, like using items from your own collection to put other small items into the gift box, putting other types of fruits on the tree, or creating other furniture and switching out the existing ones.

It is called Isabelle's House Visit, not Fauna's House, so even in that aspect, you can decide what you want to do with the house.

If you like furnishing a small house in general or are a fan of the game, you would enjoy this set.

Nice addition to grow your collection with wide variety of parts

    Written by (AFOL) in Hungary,

I mostly got this set for the versatile parts and the general building blocks to grow my collection. It did not disappoint.

    Building experience:

The included ideas are cute and easy to build; there are plenty of bricks left over to create your MOCs.

There aren't minifigs in the box, but thanks to the eyes and SNOT bricks, every manual gives you instructions to build your own astronauts or aliens with the bricks. I really liked that, despite being a classic set, there were numbered bags and extra ideas about what to build from them, so if you want, you can spread the experience of opening a new Lego bag for several days.

    Parts:

You can find almost everything in here, like bananas, pink and gold and other coloured frogs, pumpkins, pink leaves, swords, yellow diamonds, golden stars, and small guns, good for building aliens and astronauts but also, in general, to grow your collection.

There are tyres included, so you can build at least one car. Some small windows and doors are in the set, so you can build a house if you wish. And, of course, flying saucers and rockets.

    Playability:

There are plenty of creatures and vehicles to play with after assembling them, and plenty of options to build anything you want, not just space-related stuff. If you build on a small scale, it does not feel like you are using a classic set; the colours can be cohesive enough.

I think this set is great value for money if you just want to build something small or want some variety in a set. The only downside is that it comes in a cardboard box, so after opening it, you have to provide your own storage solution to store the bricks.

I wish there were more 1x4 bricks, but I can manage with what the set offers.

Overall, I am very pleased with this set and wish there would be other classic sets like this with not-so-childish themes.

Minifig habitats for Chinese New Year

    Written by (AFOL) in Hungary,

    Building experience:

I got this set because it is the most similar Lego set that resembles Minifig habitats. I plan to modify them later, using the bases for different habitats.

For this reason, I am happy that the names of the scenes came as stickers, so I can decide not to use them. The stickers are mainly used for pictures on the set, and that is also okay with me.

Each scene comes in a bag. Half an hour is enough to complete one. I built them alone, so to prevent getting bored with the repetitive baseplate building, I spread the building across multiple days.

Not many advanced building techniques are applied here, but the main focus is on the building together aspect, which can be achieved with the 6 booklets.

Some of the scenes are not my favourites (spring-cleaning, market), but I guess they make sense as portraying Chinese New Year traditions.

I wish there was some information about the traditions provided in the booklets, as I don't speak Chinese, but luckily some bloggers provided the information I was looking for.

The structure of the build really does look like a Chinese candy box.

    Parts:

I really like the elements that are put into each scene, like golden hot dogs, and hidden treasures under the couch, and in one of the baseplates, an Easter egg on the package in front of the door in the scene with the mandarin tree, unique Chinese New Year-themed elements like the lantern with the tiger print or the red envelopes, but also everyday items like a couch or TV stand.

The minifigs are cute and fitting for the scenes. Most of them are very generic, but at least the God of Prosperity is a unique figure amongst the mini figures ever created.

    Playability:

There is not much room to move the figures around or built-in play features, but I guess it is a good way to learn or teach about these Chinese traditions in a playful manner. I hope it is also good to use them as a jumping-off point to create other habitats with a smaller collection.

    Value for money:

I got my set at the recommended retail price. I am very lucky that I found it almost 2 years after its release at such a good price. It contains a lot of elements, figures, and inspiration I can use to create my own habitats.

I would recommend this set if you like Minifig habitats or Chinese traditions. The only downside is that it is not easy to stack them as pictured on the box.

    Colorful forever blooming bouquet

    Written by (AFOL) in Hungary,

I grabbed the set on sale. From the existing botanical line, I prefer this colour scheme to the other bouquet.

The building experience was OK, as I only built one of each flower and separated the parts into a compartment with dividers to assemble later. Most of the flowers have repetitive steps that can be relaxing but also tedious, so I decided to only build one of each as I tried to prevent getting bored with building them.

Most of the flowers are top-heavy, so I had to put some counterbalance in my plastic cup as I do not own a glass vase, but the end result looks great at the end.

Overall, I think this is a great set to gift to non-Lego fans. It could be good to build it with someone, as there is repetition regarding building 2-3 of the same flowers but only one booklet, so you have to figure out how to implement the building together experience.

I don't regret getting the set, it looks great on a desk, blooms forever.

    Easter bunny display set

    Written by (AFOL) in Hungary,

The instructions were mostly clear, no spectacular building techniques, a little bit tedious to build the base and spot the difference where the added tiles are in the steps, but it is a quick and easy build.

There are 2 booklets, 1 for the bunnies and one for the base. The base is more complicated than the bunnies, in my opinion.
