Time travel? Well before 2004, but all the boxes are blue.

Ha, cool, I had no idea 3221 had another ancestor besides 335-2. Adding this one to my wanted list, the charm of a Lego Lego truck is just irresistable!

A just as close relative would be 6692 from 1983. I wonder if the difference would be where each was released (US vs Europe etc). Regardless, yellow seems to be the popular color choice!

By in New Zealand,

Containers compatible with 4030 .perhaps the blue boxes are that.

A set I wish I had gotten. Time to Bricklink one, at least the stickers are not special and fairly easy to find.

By in United Kingdom,

That guy is going to injure his back lifting those boxes like that. This is a workplace injury claim waiting to happen

By in Canada,

How does he load the container on to the truck/lorry...no crane in sight, not even a forklift...odd.:|

By in Netherlands,

Ah, the proud tradition of LEGO lego trucks. Bringing lego to lego people everywhere... However that works.

It's a bit of an odd design with two containers, but it looks very nice. The cab -albeit small- has a remarkable resemblance to european style truck cabs!

By in Poland,

Also I wanted to add that this is just a one of a few trucks where it have foldable cab to show engine. So small set but so playable.
Wish You all the best in waiting to purchase original set 1525 :) there is a lot of a build from scratch ones with custom stickers. The original one should have 2pcs 4081a yellow. Not only the black but also ultra rare yellow

Could only be improved by having one of the things he’s loading be a micro-scale version of the truck itself

By in Netherlands,

Never seen this before, I don't think this was in the catalogs of those days? But it's just 4-wide goodness, so what's not to like?

By in Germany,

Cool set. Never knew it existed.
Then again, the strange set number suggests that it either was a regional exclusive or some promotional item.
Definitely not a catalogue item.

By in Germany,

As far as I know this 1525 was a promotional set in Belgium. It's super rare, hard to find original instructions or even the box.

The 4x8 containers where included in various sets back then, e.g. container ship 4030

For my LEGO train book about grey era trains I've build 1525 in 7823 blue/white livery.

By in Jersey,

I would have loved this as a kid, must have been a super limited release. Shame.

Next favorite Lego branded delivery vehicle - got to be the nice small box van that came with 60097.

And its brother from California, 3442.

Ah, that explains why it's called "lorry," and why the set's database entry doesn't have an "Also Known As" field with something like "Lego Container Truck."

Interesting. Pity anyway.
Then again at least I've got 6692, which was a regular catalogue item, and I'm very happy with it.

Looking at the building instructions for this, it might need a little modding with 1x2 plates and 1x2 tiles to take the containers from other models like 4030.

6361: Mobile Crane and 7823: Container Crane Depot released the same year, plenty of container moving there.

I'm not sure why anyone would bother putting a spoiler on a cab with the aerodynamics of a cinder block.

I am all for building this from scratch. It is like lost treasure, and I need to get my hands on it!

I had no idea there were so many--they're a regular staple it seems! I paid a bit of a premium for 3221 not longer after it was discontinued. I discovered it too late and assumed it was a once-ever set. Hopefully Lego will instead continue the trend and we'll get an update to it--maybe an upscaled version in the Icons series, remeniscent of the old Model Team 5580.
