How fitting for this to end Halloween.

Huwbot knows…

Not much of a fire there. Even with the parts palette available at the time, they could have done better. The first thing that comes to mind is 1x1 cones instead of 1x1 round plates.

Seems like a good representation of coals to me.
What I don’t get is the trans green cylinder.

What a lovely minifig and little build. Fright Knights would be a great series for a modern upgrade.

Perhaps a potion? That's the only thing that makes sense to me.

Ok I give up...where's her gingerbread house...
(Now pictures Witch vs. Gingerbread family for custody of the latter's house)

By in United States,

Awesome this was selected today!

@MeisterDad:
One of those short-necked, can-sized bottles of beer. With an expression like that, she's clearly been tipping back.

Listen, I believe that Huwbot truly is random. But this shakes me a little bit, being posted on Halloween.

Gravatar
By in United States,

HOLY CRAP. Huwbot is sentinent! Let's just hope it doesn't play out like Westworld.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Really, my preferred seasonal sets are small Minifigure scale vignettes like this, not large characters and such.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm starting to wonder if Huwbot is actually just Huw's Halloween costume.

Gravatar

@MeisterDad: I suppose coals makes sense. After all, a fireplace doesn't have to have a fire in it at all times. I guess the fact that Lego fireplaces usually do threw me.

@cody6268: Let's hope it doesn't lay out like Terminator, either..

By in Canada,

Quite a while back ago I bought a whole slew of these in a liquidation. I used to give them as gift when someone was buying my sets on ebay (eventually my collection became ridiculously too large for the space I had in my house - I had to sell quite a few of my sets - unfortunately some were terrible decisions (Emerald Night, SW UCS, early modulars, etc) - you live to learn...). I believe I still have a few of these though.

Huwbot has good taste choosing a Fright Knights set on Halloween

Random my arse lol
Love it

Ok this isn’t the first time Huwbot has “randomly” picked things with high coincidence.

I’m not saying it became independently sentient, but come on! It’s taking something else into account. Nearby articles, maybe? We just had the one with the pumpkin and the color orange.

Just a reminder to everyone in the US or Canada who got excited to see this on Halloween, it was picked at 2am, November 1st, UK time.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I loved this set because it was a cheap way to get a witch minifigure, one of those cool transparent-wands, a cat piece and the crystal ball part.

Gravatar
By in Russian Federation,

Pretty cool little set, it almost holds up today. Slight updates, and it's good to go.

P.S. I'm surprised they still hold up for the old bat mold.

Owned by one thousand and 666 members. Spooky.

So not only is Huwbot sentient, he’s also a yank?

By in Netherlands,

Great miniset for sure, considering 1997 was the start of a fairly "dark" time for LEGO sets (Town Jr and the like) , for such a small set this has a lot of cool parts for the era, cat, bat, witch hat/slope legs, glass ball, red wand etc.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Hey, I own this one. I remember being fascinated by those high, steep slope pieces because it was the first time ever I saw them in black. Yes I know they've been around in that colour for longer than that, but I didn't back then.

@darkstonegrey
Don't worry, I forgot to add it to my collection and I corrected it, so it's one thousand and 667 now.

By in Netherlands,

I love this little set. In fact, after I sold it at one point because I acquired the Night Lord's Castle but I've tracked it down again this year.
This was one of my most sought once sold sets. The challenge was to get one for a good price, because for whatever reason this thing is getting more expensive, especially if you put shipping costs on top.

I'm glad I own it again! It's so cute! There's the witch of course, but also a black cat and a bat. The fireplace is just a few parts but it's very succesful! And the barrel with crystal ball is a simple but nice inclusion.

By in Turkey,

I got this as a promotion with some news paper, along with some similarly small sets. I had at least two newspapers daily for the next 10 days. Gathering quite a different array of sets from castle, western, space and town...

Poison? Frogtears? Dragonspit? Snakesweat?

This set is fantastic, and the only thing it's missing to be absolutley perfect is the big Fabuland pot.

By in Germany,

This set finally drew me into the castle line (at 14!), it was that charming!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I love this Witch.
I found 80% of the set 6087-1 in a job lot, so instead of trying to find remaining parts for that, I made Witch her own rocky hideaway where she controls a green dragon, has several cats, and cackles a lot.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Interestingly, I just got one of this minifigure recently - or at least, the version of her with the cape. Bought a big used lot of late-90s/early-00s Lego for a decent price, and 6037 was one of the sets that I found it had parts of (including the witch herself, but not the dragon). I'm mostly only familiar with the character through Lego Racers, but it was kinda cool to find her in there, in any case ^^

By in United Kingdom,

Did that cat pop up in any other Fright Knights sets? I know the black cat is traditional but Hubble Bubble here was usually more associated with bats and spiders, don’t think I’ve seen her with a cat before

You're correct. Beside some Belville and Scala sets it only appeared in black in 2871 Paradisa Barbecue, 5571 Giant Truck (called Black Cat in some regions I recall) and 4850 Spider-Man's First Chase.

And well... she's a witch. So she might just randomly wake up surrounded by black cats and cross their paths deliberately. After all, she might be evil! Let's just hope the cats will be okay.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

A very nice and cheap way to get the black cat back then.

Oddly though, I could not find this in stores until June 1998.

Also a bit of a shame it only came with an incomplete version of Willa. Although that was a common trend with these Impulse sets in the '90s ...

Floo powder.

By in United States,

Willa, my beloved... witch minifig.

Okay, I'm sure she's not very pleasant, but she is absolutely a favourite character, and even if your collection literally needs no more than one, I still enjoy seeing her in a RSOTD.
