Posted by Huwbot,![Camera Car](https://brickset.com/https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/1361-1.jpg?050201 loading="lazy")
Today's random set is 1361 Camera Car, released during 2001. It's one of 46 Studios sets produced that year. It contains 20 pieces and 1 minifig, and its retail price was US$3.
It's owned by 655 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you might find it for sale at BrickLink or eBay.

No steering wheel. Either the car or the camera is remote controlled, but it can't be both, not with this guy going for the ride.
Well, I mean, it's no Tree 3, is it?
The facial expression, the chops, the camera car; all combined with minifigure hands stretching out to infinity...1361 qualifies for the most gropey toy ever.
Studios needs a comeback!
People tend to laugh at this tiny Studio sets, but honestly having cheap ways to "army build" set pieces and supplies was such a neat concept. Kinda back with the Xtra theme these days.
it's a camera car, but it's also a go-kart
My dude needs to shave. That stash is not working for him

It's all very Lego After Dark, isn't it?
@MCLegoboy:
See the bar on the back? Grab on and push…
Yeah...it's missing a 't' on the end...
The guy’s using the Force to get around, that’s all.
Movie magic, folks.
I always thought camera crew was the perfect job for Docs. In fact, in my Rock Raiders display, Docs is using a handheld scanner like a camera to take a glamor shot of a Rock Monster posing with a crystal, in reference to the Studios cameraman using his head.

They should have included a second minifig. He gets pulled or pushed by a dolly grip https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolly_grip, for tracking shots or to get the Hitchcock-ian dolly zoom: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Amj6RiGiTOE&t=317
This guy, with his bulky, outdated camera, looks like an amateur. He should go pro.
46 sets in one year, that seems like a lot
For some reason I just find really funny the idea that this guy is on the 'car' control the camera while another guy stands off in the distance with a remote control to move the car around
Mmmm boxed impulse sets. I miss those!
And not bad for the (presumed) price! It's always nice to have more cameramen for your studio backlot, and the vehicle is quite suitable for a standalone set unlike some of the other camera sidebuilds of the main sets.
And let's be honest, who wouldn't have spare steering wheels or levers if they cared enough about such details from an impulse set like these?
The grey wheel axles were actually pretty rare...
Also funny how this Impulse Line Features Rock Raiders in 3 of It's 4 Sets.
Anthony Kiedis?
The instructions area only 1 page, so they included a comic of the car filming a train as shown here https://lego.brickinstructions.com/en/lego_instructions/set/1361/Camera_Car with the last 6 photos suggesting building a mad copter with all 4 sets 1360, 1361, 1362, and 1363.

They're in fact both remote controlled, but the guy still has to be on the cart due to union rules. It's stupid, but that's how Hollywood productions work.

Click on the link listing them; I predict you will rethink that.
@CarolinaOnMyMind:
Well, that depends on whether you want the footage to look good on a TV in your living room, or on an Imax screen. Professional grade digital movie cameras are still fairly bulky, but they have resolution that beats any film camera ever made, plus the ability to use all kinds of fancy Hollywood equipment that you really can’t strap to a phone.
@Rob42:
And you’re not kidding about that. It’s insane. You can have four guys standing around to do the work of one person, because they’re all from different unions. Whether the item in question is a prop, a set piece, a piece of lighting rigging, etc., a different job title has to touch it. Woe to the director who makes the mistake of moving an on-screen chair into position rather than telling the union pro who’s being paid to stand there and wait for someone to need a chair moved. And don’t ask that guy to move the chairs with cast/crew names on them, because that’s not their job.

The Cameraman! Of all the many, may minifigs shared across our LEGO collections, my brothers and I agree this is the dullest shared minifig we have.
Much like this car, we just can't find anything to get a grip on.

That’s why 1422 exists.

Ah, so you show up in a fancy cardboard box, with a comic strip, and you’re lauded as a car. Your identical twin rolls up in cheap plastic, and he’s derided as a cart.
