Today's random set is 3675 General Store, released during 1987. It's one of 10 Fabuland sets produced that year. It contains 103 pieces and 3 minifigs.
It's owned by 215 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you might find it for sale at BrickLink or eBay.

The fences look like headboards for beds, but oddly have never officially been used for such.

Okay, see, I was going to make some more jokes about Chima, but honestly, this set is the appeal of Fabuland, right there. It's just so sweet and adorable. Love it.

Fabuland: Animal Crossing before it was cool
Oh, I wish I wasn't ashamed of my feelings for Fabuland sets back in the 80's. I could have (should have) at least gotten a set. Now I have a bike, few parts and a Mickey Mouse figure from 4164 from various second hand lots, trying to make up for not getting any Fabuland sets.

Now there's a theme that's ripe for revival! Bring back Fabuland!
The extra large kettle is needed for boiling the extra large herbs that they are growing in the garden. These must be pretty powerful as they give the illusion that if you remove apples from a Fabuland apple tree you leave holes behind?
That is just gorgeous! So many delightful parts!
Fabuland sets always make me smile when they appear here.
Just imagine if Lego and Nintendo paired up with an Animal Crossing licence - that's surely just a way to print money!

Not until (as @Norikins points out) its denizens started buying generals from the General Store. Then came the Chima Wars. Evolutionary pressure led to phyletic dwarfism, hence the smaller size of the Chima combatants compared to their Fabuland forebears. Today, re-enactors dress up in mostly anachronistic animal costumes (Chicken Suit Guy, Fox Girl etc), trivialising the horrors of war. It’s all very tragic.

They're tiles so it is not.

No, as they’re tiles, not plates. Tiles placed that way are OK and the method has been used in sets since. It’s plates wedged between studs that are the problem as they stress the part to which they’re attached.

I presume General Store is the dog in the officers cap, as Underling Rodent is saluting him. I love how the 80s designers managed to sneak so much conflict into their ‘peaceful’ castle, space and animal farm themes.

It is the studs on the plates of the vertical plane that stress the base studs on the horizontal plane. Tiles have the former absent so they don’t stress the latter.

Nope, they are not. You can see that yourself by putting them together on something, and perhaps sticking something on top. You should see a gap between the tile and the brick you placed on top (maybe support the part on top on both sides) Tiles are the tiniest amount less tall. This only holds for 'pure' tiles btw, a 2x2 with two studs IS as high as a plate.
I've often wondered about it, and the only reason I could think of is that it is done to facilitate sliding something tiled inside a brick-build structure. The Technic 855 crane comes to mind.

Tiles are, in fact, just a _tiny_ bit thinner than plates. Plus the studs intersect unless you offset it nearly half a stud.

I suspect it’s so that a wall built to pivot on a single stud over a bed of tiles won’t actually contact the tiles at all, but instead will pass just above them: this would prevent considerable scuffing over time.

Now, why would you say that, eh? There’s nothing nefarious going on here, just happy animal people happily having a happilicious day here in Fabuland, where everyone is happy, and gets along! And everything is rainbows and bright colors! And i was NOT brainwashed to say any of this!

And then, the militia decided to invade Fabuland and one of the worst psychopaths ever to breathe air ... the type you'd see as the villains on "Walker, Texas Ranger" terrorize this innocent, peace-loving village.
(Of course, Walker comes to save the day and help restore peace to this fun-loving town.)
I like to think that Fabuland is how Classic Town appears when a minifig takes the illicit drugs documented in set 1687. The police try to shut it down, but prohibition never works.
Even when I only had a few little sets myself, I always loved Fabuland. And still think it's a pretty perfect theme between Duplo and the Legoland sets from back in the day. With so many unique and fun parts.

That set always made me wonder. Employees of the Dope Confederacy? Or maybe a rogue group of delivery men who wanted to make sure they met their deadlines. Like when you see 2 UPS/Amazon vehicles parked next to each other exchanging packages.
My mom had a fabuland set somewhere. I don't know where it is but pieces have been popping up and I found a figure.

3664. If you want to link to a set’s page on this site, don’t copy/paste the URL. Just type the pound sign (aka “hashtag”) followed by the set number. If it’s in the Brickset database as a “-1” set, leave that off. If it’s “-2” or higher, make sure to include that because it defaults to “-1”.
Anyways, either those guys are just wanted for jaywalking, or they’ve already been sent to the slaughterhouse to be killed and butchered in a peaceful, humane manner so they can be fed to the citizens of Fabuland. Seventy five!
One of my most favourite Fabuland sets, still have it mint in the box. When you add modern LEGO food elements the store really comes to life. LEGO ought to bring the theme back with more detailed and modern elements and I am sure it would be a success.
That beautiful moment when the RSotD reminds you of a set from your childhood you had totally forgotten and might still have all the pieces for.
