Mmm, blue Santa and his reinbird delivering magical presents from their wooden chest.

Gravatar
By in United States,

He's trading a trans-blue stud and a trans-green stud in that chest, only the finest and rarest of commodities.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I’ll trade you a Merlin for a Dumbledore?

Gravatar
By in United States,

This is what happens to wizards from discontinued subthemes: they are cursed to wander the earth alone, wondering why they were replaced by crummier sets. Alas, poor Majisto.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

This guy is a legend: walks 24 hours a day pulling his wagon one-handed while using his wand as a light source and a means of defense. Never once changes expression either.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Is the parrot trading his wizard for a different one?

Gravatar
By in Canada,

That grey parrot started with one red paperclip and traded himself up to Merlok 1.0.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Some people say that Collectible Minifigure from a few years back was supposed to be an updated Majisto, but I don't really see it. I'd love to see an official remaster of the dude one of these days, given how much demand for castle is growing.

Some people think that fantasy elements only were included in Castle starting with this guy. However, I recently learned that in an old comic book (probably you can find it in the database) there was a Black Falcon wizard. And he wore no shirt.

By in Australia,

It's Tim the Enchanter. Or Gandalf before he got a larger cart LOL. Nice set, great minifig, good to see the parrot included.

Argh I wish we still got Castle sets :( Personally I have no interest in fantasy castle, I liked Kingdoms the best out of all the themes however I would be open to a new fantasy theme (like the one from 2009?? with the skeletons) if that brings back castle and (mostly) realistic knights.

Overwhelmed by nostalgia, he rushed over to BrickLink to order a Majisto minifigure for his collection.

Glow in the dark wands make the best magic.

Wizards for trade! Getcher wizards here! Wizards! Wizards for trade!

Old school LEGO Wizard!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Nice this showed up today on my birthday! Of all the old sets I still had sealed that I decided to open up and build today, I chose Dark Forest Fortress from 1996, which includes a couple of Dragon Masters on the run. Although Majisto is not present, his influence is felt in that among the most well-hidden treasures in the wagon, one of Majisto's magical spell scrolls is included. Clearly, though their magical leader had been defeated, the remainder of the rank-and-file tried to peddle the remnants of his power, perhaps in search of wealth just for themselves, or perhaps in the hopes they would find a worthy wizard-in-training who could lead them once again.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This is Majisto’s cape-less cousin Wiz, according to LEGO.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Hmmm...Knights yesterday, a Wizard today...Huwbot must run on algorithms rather than randomness...:)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Are this wand and the ghost the first glow in the dark parts?

Gravatar
By in United States,

What a terrible wizard! He wasn't loyal to his kingdom at all, so they had to send him packing. What a TRAITOR!

Wait... I'm sorry. I'm being told he's a wizard TRADER.

Nevermind.

Boo.
But actually, yay.
So bad, but in a good way.
Sounds like something so lame I would’ve said it myself if you hadn’t first.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I can’t help but see Gandalf here, heading to his first encounter with Hobbits years before the incident with the dragon.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I accidentally read Majisto as Mephisto :P

Gravatar
By in Russian Federation,

Oh, I wanted this set so much as a kid! Never got, though, for unknown reasons....

Gravatar
By in Turkey,

I was a space kid when I was little. If I knew how I'd feel about Lego today, I would get the little sets, such as this .

If he tries it he may find himself pining for the fjords…

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

So the recoloured parrot is clearly supposed to be a hawk or falcon or something. It might even be a merlin XD

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

They're taking the parrots to Isengard...

Actually, I believe we did get a remaster of this particular minifigure in the set 7952 Kingdoms Advent Calendar from 2010.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Released in 1998 probably means it was planned in 1997- which will have been before there was even a hint of the idea of the Lord of The Rings films (which came out in 2001). So this suspicious not-Gandalf was simply a coincidence. Nice.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

I thought this guy was much older than 98. I mean, he probably is. I didn't realize he was still around during this time.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

This wizard was one, if not the, last castle minifigure we got before the Dark Age: 6020 Magic Shop, with black cape but otherwise identical...

Just wanted to comment, that in 1998, this was considered retro. After all, this was the year after the Fright Knights' witch turned up.

I guess what we see is Majisto (or Cerlin or whatever his alias was in your country) packing his bags and leaving castle for good. It was a good time, now it's time to enjoy retirement, somewhere in the southern Kingdoms. Maybe at the beach...

This set is actually a rerelease of the 1995 1746 or 1736

By in Netherlands,

I think this little set would look cooler if the handle and that blue piece were just black like the rest of the car.
Plus, he should walk next to it. He is a wizard, he must have a magic spell to let it ride by itself.

It looked familiar, indeed... so is it a time loop or is he still on th emove after 3 years?

I completely agree I loved buying these little sets,
The closest thing we have these days are the magazine foil bags.

I don’t see how he could. That parrot is clearly dead.

@peterlmorris:
In the books, only his hat was blue, and I believe the robe was grey like his name. In the movies, even the hat was grey.

That’s funny, for me it was the other way around. Majisto from 6020 along with a ghost and a knight minifigure from another set are what got me back into LEGO in ‘93 and ultimately turned me into an AFOL! I still have all three in my display collection.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I absolutely love this set. It's so incredibly simple, but the idea of the powerful Majisto just walking around with his cart, falcon, wand and some gems is so charming. What is the leader (?) of the Dragon Knights up to?

Is he wandering into enemy territory alone to take out their leader with awesome displays of magic?

Are his spells not as good as they're hyped up to be, and he now has to make a living selling cheap tricks? It would explain him having to pull a cart on foot XD

Or is he just going to the Wizard Convention? You know, to buy the latest spellbooks, scrolls and supplies with his hard-earned gold. And maybe even to host a dragon keeping seminar?

Maybe this isn't even the Majisto from the Dragon Knights and is Wiz the Wizard, his far less aspiring and simpler cousin? He just also happens to wear blue, a wizard hat and a white beard.

These are the same sets. This is one of many sets that got re-released in the late 90's. Majisto the minifig was introduced with the Dragon Masters theme in 1993 so the even the early versions of this set was a late inclusion of the character.

And Castle was still going strong in the mid 90's. Dragon Masters, Royal Knights and Dark Forest is propably my favourite Castle themes! But I'm also nostalgic for the LEGO in this period :D

Gravatar
By in United States,

Majisto is an all-time favourite minifig of mine, so this set hits right in the middle of the Nostalgia Feels for me, although the design and concept of the set doesn't actually fit him: for me he's become the most powerful minifig I have, but old and tired and reclusive--none of which lend themselves to being a peddlar of transparent baubles!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Merlok from the Nexo Knights was the closest to this Wizard, minifigure was exclusive to a book. (Book of Knights)

Or let's just say Nexo Knights was either an alternate universe or a far - future version of Castle (one of the tv episodes had a theater play using yellow castle decor) .
