Own it, love it, impossible to replace some of the violet Technic parts that have cracked.

I bought a copy of the complete saga. I was playing attack of the clones and of course he showed up. Maybe deja vu is happening to me?

Ah, yes, or of the earliest Dark Hunters Bionicle released!

Wait--

This is a decent enough Technic build, dead centre in that strange Star Wars Technic zone. Not owning it, I can't tell: is that all standard blue or is some of it (like the 2002 minifigs) other shades?

EDIT: Ah, @MCLegoBoy has inadvertently given me my answer!

@Formendacil:
Very little of it is blue. The legs and part of the arms are violet, like the original minifig.

The other night I dreamt of a UCS Jango Fett's Slave I. But it was only a dream . . .

Okay guys here's your BIONICLE lo--- hey wait a minute!

Don't have a lot of thoughts on this one particular figure, but the Star Wars Technic Figure line as a whole is pretty neat. We got a ton of fun new recolors with things like Med Blue Nuhvok Shields in the Super Battle Droid set, and a lot of fun play features and functions like that Pit Droid that could curl up into a cube.

One of my favorite combos was the C-3PO and Stormtrooper sets. The Stormtrooper had a missile launcher for it's blaster, and C-3PO had a button on his stomach that could make him explode. By combining the two you could recreate the scene where he 3PO gets shot in Empire Strikes Back.

By in Canada,

I like these sets; for the most part I find them creative and interesting, especially the droideka which (when correctly used) rolls and then deploys itself. The only problem I found is that a lot of functions across the line are activated by elastic bands and they don’t often age well.

So far, no cracked or broken parts on my copy: thank you for the heads up there, @MCLegoboy!

When I was younger I had the lego star wars visual dictionary and thought this one was so cool and one of the best sets ever!

Looking back....

One of the better Star Wars Technic set. Just a simple set trying to make its way through the universe.

Might be in the top 4 along with Vader, Droideka and Hailfire Droid.

I go my son the Lego Star Wars Visual Dictionary and he became obsessed with these technic sets. They are rather expensive today, and they seam to rely on rubber bands for all their functions which made me hesitant to buy them. Finally I found someone on eBay selling Jango, the Super Battle Droid, Hailfire Droid for a great price but definitely incomplete. I took a chance on them as I figured the Hailfire Droid wheels alone are worth more than what I paid for everything. Managed to Bricklink the missing parts for a reasonable price and now I have three complete sets. The trick has been keeping them hidden so I can surprise my son for either his birthday or the holidays.

They are definitely cool sets, incredibly difficult to build, and make nice action figures. However, I think for kids the buildable figures line is a better option.

A pretty solid looking set, but if I was interested in something like this, Id probably go with 75107. This one has more character, but with the custom molded helmet of the other one, I think that one is superior.

I got the Vader for 50% off back in the day. the cape on Vader was great for Bionicles. Plus, Vader was all black, so way more useful for Blacktron. Vader even has some of those rare white 2length axles. This Jango guy has only a smattering of black technic. Still cool though.

He still holds up nowadays (I'm guessing literally and not).

Huh, I never realized that this Technic Jango Fett actually used more violent instead of blue until reading this comments section. Violet is another one of those short-lived early 2000's colors that they should have kept around for longer, it is such a shame we only get a single shade of purple nowdays...

This was not so bad but I think robots were more suitable for Technic design, such as 8001 or 8002.

This set holds a special place in my memories. When I was much younger, I had to go to the dentist for some procedure I can't remember, but obviously any dentist work is horrible when you're young haha. Afterwards my mother and I went to the toy store and I was allowed to pick out a set. I chose this one.

This set is now forever tied to that memory :)

There can never be too many representations of Jango Fett. And this seems like a really good one for the time it came from.

Agree with Lego_Lord, but would also add the super battle driod 8012 was well done, although I found C3-P0 looked a bit comical with the large gold eyes and R2-D2 incomplete in 65081 .

Hey, I just got this guy the other month! :D

Been fascinated by the Technic Star Wars characters ever since my friend had this one, 8008 and (I think?) 8010, but never got any except for a couple of the first-wave droids (and even them only several years later). Occasionally in the intervening years, I've non-committally pursued the others on eBay, but they've always been out of my price range... until I looked recently and found Jango, missing a few pieces but otherwise intact, for a really good price. No-one else bid, either, so I scooped up a good bargain and Bricklinked most of the pieces he was missing.

Those light grey axels for his pistols have eluded me so far; but hopefully sooner or later...

I still think he's pretty impressive, honestly; especially considering the parts they had to work with at the time. And that, aside from recolours, he has NO parts that were designed specifically for him whatsoever. The main issue I find is the fact that, well... his torso is HOLLOW, and while it's not obvious from a distance, it doesn't look very natural up-close!

I suspect maybe the more human-based characters weren't that well received at the time, compared to the earlier droids (and Stormtrooper), which could be why Lego pulled the plug on the SW Technic line after the AotC wave. But I still like them; they were a cool experiment, and I'd honestly love to see Technic be used for sets of large-scale buildable characters like this again.

Also, unpopular opinion: but I think Jango is cooler than Boba...

By in United States,

I've been collecting these SW Technic sets over the past few months, but I haven't assembled any yet. I'm a little worried that I might crack a few pieces, and especially on this set and the SBD, replacement parts aren't cheap.
